I'll add my vote for a better voice recording in the MGM Tower of Terror. I also prefer our lines to theirs.
You are the passengers on a most uncommon elevator, about to take the strangest journey of your lives. Your destination: unknown. But, this much is clear: a reservation has been made in your name for an extended stay...
Wave goodbye to the world you know...for you have just entered the Twilight Zone.
What happened here to dim the lights of Hollywood's brightest showplace is about to unfold once again...
One stormy night long ago, five people stepped through the door of an elevator and into a nightmare. That door is opening once again, but this time, it's opening for you.
The next time you check into a deserted hotel on the dark side of Hollywood, make sure you know just what kind of vacancy you are filling...or you may find yourself a permanent resident of the Twilight Zone.
I just find our version much more eloquent. "You are the passengers on a most-uncommon elevator about to ascend into your very own episode of the Twilight Zone" just sounds cooler. And "you are about to discover what lies beyond the fifth dimension, beyond the deepest, darkest corner of the imagination...in the Tower of Terror" is just plain creepy. I will give you that the flow of DCA's ride is better, though--it is kewl how the elevator doors open before you even reach the show scenes--much more seamless. Finally, our view from the drop shafts beat their's, hands down. As much as I like seeing Disneyland and the mountains off in the distance, I prefer not looking at the backside of buildings, and the top of a noticeably unthemed Animation building. And I've always thought it was bad to get a clear view of another Theme Park from the one you are in...really detracts from the theming when you can see the Matterhorn from your vantage point in "Hollywood".
To DCA's benefit, the echo in the impersonator's voice during the "One stormy night long ago" dialogue is VERY creepy, their sfx do rock (even if the ride is very short), and their drop sequence rocks. I especially like the drop where the elevator doors don't open--gotta be a lot of fun at night. I like the music prior to the drops in the MGM Tower, better, though. Regardless, it is clear that DCA got a fantastic ride, far better than any of us expected, and I am pleased that it is not nearly a clone of our ride. It will be extremely popular, to be sure.
