Tornado Season 2013

Saw where a nasty set of twisters went through the St. Louis area last night. There is also a watch out in the lower LA, New Orleans area until 3:00pm, and moving eastward all afternoon.

This is the time of year when that awful chain of storms sent an F-5 tornado through Tuscaloosa, AL back in 2011, as well as many other funnel touchdowns throughout the southeast. Luckily, this chain today sweeping across the region does not look as severe as that '11 outbreak, though still chances for twisters nonetheless. Biggest threats for tornados today stretch from New Orleans, through MS, AL, GA, & TN.

Everybody in those regions please stay safe, and hope all of our MO people are safe after last nt.

So glad I live in hilly MD...where it's just hot. Yes hot. It was 90 yesterday. Today it was 82. We had some storms yesterday, but we don't get the tornadoes until about August. Which is when I head to Disney.

Thank you Darth Tater!! I live in Northwest Florida about 20 minutes northeast of Destin and we are expecting severe weather to move through this evening around 7pm!!!

This is the time of year where we have tornado warnings a couple of times a week. Been fortunate enough to not experience one at full force, though.

Everyone stay safe!

Brief update from Taterville. I took these pictures standing outside my office less than 15-min ago. We are under a Tornado watch which is expected to expire at 2am.
Sorry these are not the best quality. I tried to capture some of the cloud formations. A funnel was reported forming inside a cloud less than 5-miles from here, but nothing worth worrying over since it stayed in the clouds.

We get these types of things all the time here in Wisconsin. It gets kind of annoying. One year the tornado sirens went off almost every night for a month it seemed.

Here's a video of the F-5 tornado which hit Tuscaloosa back in April of 2011.

Not my video, but whoever filmed this had nerves of steel being out & about when this thing was lurking.

That's scary, but why on earth would you be driving around in that? I understand that there isn't always a lot of notice, but wouldn't you think they would get inside?

We have a video from Hurricane charley that some storm-chaser guys did. They really are insane.

At least in daylight you can see them coming, but it seems to me that at night, how would you know til it was right there?

Back in 2008 there were a series of thunderstorms, tonadoes, heavy rains, etc over the course of just a couple of days. Lake Delton, a man made lake, had it's dam break, and the entire lake emptied into the Wisconsin River. The entire lake was drained, and many roads, trees, and entire houses were taken away.

At the very beginning of this video, you can see an entire house floating down the river. I can't even imagine.
