Topolino's or Cali. Grill?!!

Today's our 60-day window to make dining reservations and I can't decide on whether to make dinner reservations at Topolino's or California Grill. We've done Calift. Grill before and it was amazing! I'm vegetarian and allergic to mushrooms and they made me the most delicious entree off-menu! We've never been to Topolino's and it looks like it has great offerings as well. HELP! The travel agent currently booked us into Calif. Grill so we had something, but not sure if we should switch and try something new? This would also be my mom's "retirement" dinner (so sad that V&A is not operating currently 😩).

Hi NelleBelle. Just a heads up--our ADR window opened up last week and Topolino's seemed to be pretty well booked up already for the dates we were there (granted, it is Easter week so it might be busier than the week you'll be there). But there were still more openings for Cali Grill throughout the week, so you might want to make Topolino's the first priority to grab whatever's available, just to have the option because there will probably be more available dates/times at Cali as a second alternative.

Good luck!

We are there April 10 -16 so after Easter luckily—have mistakenly done the Easter week before when I was first married and boy, that will be a mistake never to be repeated! 😂 Topoloino’s had surprisingly a fair amount of availability for the night I wanted but I checked the menu again and unless they change it, the veg option is a mushroom dish 🤢 and I’m worried about that. Ugh, so torn! Thanks for your help, 👍

That's a tough call, I've had such great meals at both! I'd typically go with the one I haven't eaten at before. What are your other plans for that day? Might help you narrow it down.

We're doing HS in the AM and park hopping wherever we feel like sometime in the afternoon (or going back and lounging by the pool)! We're not in a huge rush to commando tour anything so we're pretty much playing things by ear. We're staying at YC so it would probably be easier to go to Topolino's.

Not sure what you ended up deciding, but we just got back and I went with Topolino's, since it was new to us. I would agree that the view at CG is a bit more magical, but it's still a very pretty view from Topolino's. We've been to CG about 6x and my food experiences have been such a mix. I usually wind up with either an amazing appetizer and a so/so entree or my appetizer is blah and the entree is wow. I think every single one of us was impressed with pretty much everything we ordered at Topolino's, so I'd certainly give them the edge on food. For your transportation, we were staying at BWV and while the Skyliner was open at the start of our meal, the hours were iffy towards the end. It was looking like we'd have to Uber or Lyft to get back, so I just used my own vehicle. It was about a 5 minute drive from BWV, so it shouldn't be long from YC if you can drive or use a ride service.

Good to know about skyliner hours! I'll have to look and see when Epcot and HS close! I think I'm going to see if I can switch over to Topolino's since everyone is giving them an edge on food. If fireworks were back at MK, it'd be one thing to keep our reservation at CG. 😊

Our dinner was at 8:05 and Epcot was closing at 8, so I didn't want to chance it. My husband pointed out that the Skyliner appeared to still be running when we got back to BWV, but no guarantee that they were allowing new passengers to board. i.e. they could have been cycling it through to make sure all cars were empty. Things definitely aren't the same without fireworks, but we did get to see the Electrical Water Pageant as we were leaving MK on Wednesday. It's not the same as fireworks, but it is one more fun thing to see from CG if you keep that ADR.
