Topolino Terrace or Chef Mickey's?

Our ADR window is about to open up, and I need your wise advice on which choice to make. We have a "transition day" between Universal and Disney and wanted to have a late breakfast outside the parks with Mickey and Minnie to welcome us to the world for the first time. The rest of the day will be low key at our AoA resort.

I was planning on Chef Mickey's as basically our only option with both Mickey and Minnie, and the thought of riding a loop on the monorail would be a fun welcome as well. I have read how loud and chaotic it is, and I am trying to make as many choices for my husband's enjoyment as possible as well. He doesn't do chaos well--so any time I can cut down on it for the trip is excellent. I see the new restaurant Topolino Terrace at the Rivera Resort will have a Mickey and Minnie breakfast, it is table service, and the menu looks great! It seems like it would be a better fit for our family.

However, it doesn't open until mid December, so I am asking you to speculate for me. Right now, I see no kid's menu. Do you think they will add one? Do you think the prices will be similar to Chef Mickey's or much higher? If I book Topolino, and change my mind when it opens, do you think I will have a good chance to book Chef Mickey's instead? We are going mid February, 2 adults and 2 kids---and can do late breakfast or lunch.

Also, will there be an easy way for us to ride the monorail if we do not go to Chef Mickey's? We will have a car rental, but unsure on a good place to park just to ride the monorail resort loop.

Thanks so much!

Yes, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Kids’ menus exist at virtually every Disney restaurant (except Victoria & Albert’s). I’ll throw this screenshot in for good measure.

Park at Disney Springs and take a bus to one of the resorts on the monorail.

Comparable. The Bon Voyage character breakfast at Trattoria al Forno is also pre fixe, and is slightly cheaper than breakfast at Chef Mickey’s.

I don't know if this is exactly the proper thing to do, but you can book both places and just be sure to cancel one 24 hours before your dining day. You may certainly cancel one sooner but it gives you a chance to make your decision. It can be hard trying to decide where you want to eat 6 months in advance.
Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Just to add, you can’t make 2 reservations within one hour of eachother. So one would need to be, say, 9:25am, and the other 10:30am. That might make it harder if you want a late breakfast as it makes one of the reservations much earlier.

I thought about this, but wasn't sure it was allowed...or a kind thing to do. 😉 We are okay with a later time at Mickey's so I am sure an hour difference would be totally fine. It really is hard to decide 6 months early. 😬
