Topher Grace leaving That 70s Show

I know the show doesn't have a huge audience anymore, but I still believe that its one of the (if not the) best show(s) on television.

Any other fans still watch it, and are incredibly upset that Eric is leaving the show? I consider Eric the greatest comedic actor on television, so I can't believe he's leaving. I think that its not that he's just a great actor (which he is), but even moreso, he is the perfect actor for "Eric", and Eric is the perfect character for him to play.

I actually cried during the commercial for the show- the one with flashbacks of Eric, promoting the season finale. (It had flashbacks from older episodes, and in the background the song "There are places I remember" by The Beatles was playing)

So, anybody else really upset Topher is leaving? Same with Ashton- his final episode will be the end of this season, too.

I never got into "That 70's Show," but I do know what it is like to lose one. Last year, Ed on NBC was canceled during its 4th season. I looked forward to it every Wednesday. I cried during the series finale because I knew that it was the end. Now it is gone. I don't see how the 70's show can go on without two of its lead actors. I'm assuming the show will be gone soon too. Sorry Gregory!!

I love That 70's Show... I really don't know how they can go on without Topher or Ashton. :( :( :( It's kinda like when Shirley left "Laverne & Shirley"

Noooo! Topher's the reason I watch the show! And he's pretty much the central character, isn't he? I didn't watch that often, really...just when I caught it on. But I doubt I'll even try to watch it anymore. It just won't be anywhere near the same without Eric.
So how is he leaving? What's going to be their excuse on the show?

Somehow I saw Ashton's departure coming...I'm actually suprised he's stayed as long as he has! With his movie career taking off, and all.

wait.. no Eric??? How do you run a show without the "main" character ths show was develioped around in the first palce...

I would say have the show end.... (how long has it been running... i would think it is into the 80s now...)

This is it's 7th year, so the 80's should be just around the corner for them...depending on the year the first season was supposed to be about (anybody know?)

The show started in 1978.. And, the 8th season (next season) will be the last... So, they average about one 70s year for every four seasons.

They are writing Topher (Eric) out by saying he's going to teach in Africa. Ashton (Kelso) will be written out in the Fall in the first episode (though he won't be there for it)... Ashton will be back for a few episodes next season, though...

I wish they'd just end the show. Its too late for that now, but even though I love it, its pointless to watch it now. Since the point of the show is to be in the 70s, they could just make the last episode New Years Eve, and have a countdown to midnight.. and, the show ends when they hit "Happy New Year"...

The show start would have been 1977 since they went to see Star Wars in theaters in the first season(My favorite episode, btw). At this point, the show really should wrap it up. When you have the two most popular characters on the show leaving, there is very little chance of recovery. And yeah, by this point it should really be around 1984 or 85, so it really can't be "That 70s Show" anymore. ;)

I cried during the last episodes of Friends and S.e.x. and the City. (And I have them both on DVD and still cry... :lookaroun )

I like Topher Grace. He was great in the movie "In Good Company."

Third Watch is dwindling down to its last episodes. I never got into that 70's show though. I don't really like Ashton Kutcher sorry :lookaroun

He's not exactly my favorite.. hes good sometimes, and other times he's terrible... Over all, though, with the exception of Topher, the characters aren't great by themselves- but, together, they're great.

Terrible news.... :(

It's a great show and never will be the same without Topher or Ashton. Perhaps it would be best to just finish it off for good.

I think the show started in 1976. At the end of the episode, the licence plate has a sticker on it with the year the episode takes place, and I could swear I've seen some 76'ers.

Hmm.. Its either 77, or 78.. I wish I still had the Pilot TiVoed, I could check..

I tried looking it up, but I couldn't find it anywhere.. For some reason, I'm thinking 78.. (at the very least, the first year it started, it was the 77-78 school year)

You could be right about that since the episode for Star Wars doesn't happen until near the end of the first season. I'll be back in a few minutes with an answer for you. I have the first season on DVD and a DVD-ROM drive on my compy. :D

EDIT: Official word according the opening of the "That 70's Pilot" is: "Point Place, Wisconsin... May 17, 1976... 8:47PM... Location:Eric Forman's Basement" :D

Yeah.. I just got out my tape of the Pilot, and saw that...

Sorry I messed that up.. lol.. I was thinking (for some reason) 2 70s years with 4 seasons per year instead of 4 70s years with 2 season per year.. Not sure why I thought that.. lol
