Hi all

I am planning my vacation that's booked for May 2015. Was wondering what are your favourite things to do at Animal Kingdom and any tips or advice you have. We're string at AKL so really excited.

Take the Safari early, beat the crowd, youll have a better chance to view the animals out and active.
Plan on watching Finding Nemo show, one of the best performances Disney has to offer.
Flame Tree BBQ and Yak & Yeti are great dining options to target.
EE & Dinosaur... the best, dont miss attractions in the park.
Take your time walking the Tree of Life path. The animal carvings on the tree are plentiful and it takes a keen eye to spot them all.
Take your time wandering all the pathways, youll find lots of great photo op areas. You may run into a camouflaged surprise along the way.
The CM's are a wealth of knowledge and willing to answer questions about the animals, culture, & environment you will encounter.
The park is pretty humid so be prepared to hydrate frequently.
Many unique shopping opportunities that you wont find in the other parks.

We took DS 10 to do the Wilderness explorers thing, it isn't his normal thing no computer screen!!! but he loved it, unfortunately it was our last visit that trip but he wants to do it first this year and thinks it better than Agent P. It is amazing what they will learn when there are stickers involved. We enjoyed it too by the way we got to see and learn more about the park than EE the Tree and Tuskers!

Do not look at a map. Just slowly walk around and observe your surroundings. If you see a path, walk down it. The park was designed to get people a little lost and encourage them to explore.

Pretty much sums it up. I would add that our family really likes Flights of Wonder as well. We are kind of "outdoorsy" and that may have something to do with it as it does not appeal to everyone but for our dollar it is the best show going. If you go on Kali River I would say to have spare clothes with you to stuff into a locker (they are available at the bathrooms near the ride entrance) as walking around and not drying in the Floridian heat and humidity can feel pretty gross.

My 2 cents - I think many are disappointed if you just go in "ready to ride." You'll feel like the park is limited.

In fact, AK has tons of walking trails and beauty that must be enjoyed. Walk the trails, ride the train, explore the different side areas, and of course, see the shows.'

Do an earlier morning Safari for the most animals and make sure you see the Nemo show. One of the best on property along with Festival of the Lion King.

Get a breakfast reservation so you can get in the park early.

The Tusker House Breakfast Buffet/Character Dining is FANTASTIC, they have a wide variety of foods with some tasty region specific along with all the favorites including a carved ham station..

That was the one I was thinking of, I couldn't think of the name. Yeah, great place!

Yes the flights of wonder is a great show. But my DS was traumatized by a screeching macaw when he was 3yo and ever since, and even now as an adult hates anything to do with birds. So even though I enjoy the show we have avoided it when he was on the trips with us.
