I just got back from cedar Point and I have to say that there is NOOO way that I`m ever going to ride that top thrill dragster! Not only does it go straight up and straight down, but Anyone that has seen it can tell you the track is so flimsy that it sways with the wind!

Do you have any pics of it, or know where I can find them? I like the title of the ride.
Want to talk about flimsy, here in Miami at the Dade County fair, we have a free fall ride that makes you feel like it is the end of your life. If you get past the fact that it is a mobile ride that travel from town to town, it is a tower about 100 feet tall (maybe 110) and has simply a pulley that pulls you to the top and the hook releases you. Thats the Drop of Fear......yet I still ride it?!:hammer:

Also it takes 5 rubber bands put together to make it go up there.

Darrel What part are you refering to????

are you refering to the tower or the level track.

FYI
structual engineering dictates that a tower have a "flex" designed into into the structure to allow for the wind just the same as tall buildings do. I am prety sure that unless your riding durring a heavy wind that what your feeling is the trains suspention and not the flexing of the track. I can garantee that TTD would not be allowed to operate if the ride was unsafe.

BTW

the footings for the tower and acceleration/brake run are huge check out the TTD site http://www.topthrilldragster.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill/ttd/index.cfm

Also, the shape of the structual supports will not let it sway. It is triangular.

It does not sway, I have seen it first person.

Wicked Twister sways ;)

I also wanted to add. If the coaster doesn't sway. It would snap. Everything must have some lean-way. Same with wood coasters.

I have yet to ride it.. I don't want to ride it no more.. Its a piece of crap.. Always closed. ALWAYS. 17 seconds of fun... Woot .. Woot.

I`m sorry but everyone in my group saw it sway, The track was swaying and the beams that support it.

I would say that having the track sway only adds to the fun .
Darrel, were there people in the train when it didn't make it to the top? I was shouting up a storm when it took off. It's quite exhilarating! Then on the way back down...i was shouting some more. hehehehe.
