Fiber optics must be bought from Companies that produce them. Try looking online for a Company that sells it. Most of the time they sell it by the foot.

Try Edmund Scientific (http://scientificsonline.com). I just did a search on their site, and I only saw a few items, but I know that back in the old days (pre-Internet, printed catalog) they used to have quite a selection. They may have more still in their print catalog, which you can probably request from the site.

You could also do a search with Froogle.com (not Google), which is the "shopping" arm of Google. (http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=fiberoptics&btnG=Search+Froogle)

Aside from the search results, the sponsored listings looked promising as well.

One bit of caution: I'd strongly advise getting plastic fibers as opposed to glass. I've worked with both, and the glass fibers are a nightmare if you're going to handle them individually. They break very easily and can get under your skin, itching you to death (a la fiberglass!). Plastic fibers are a little thicker (unless they've improved, it's been a long, long time for me) but they're tough. About the worst you can do to them is bend them to the point that they crush and won't properly conduct light. The won't break the way glass fibers will.

I hope this helps!
