is there a way to shut off the Top Articles pop-up that has suddenly begun appearing after every page refresh?

Personally I'd rather not have it anywhere, but i can deal with it when reading the news articles.

In the forums it is Extremely Annoying.

They are back. 2:20 EST, Aug. 5, 2020, They weren't there about an hour ago, but pop up every time we change topics or specific threads. Hope you remember how you fixed it last time.
