Top 7 commercials at resorts

Who's idea was it to change the Resort TV commercials to the top 7 things to do? This was a terrible change in my opinion as I always looked forward to the old zip-a-dee-do-dah tips when I got to my room on the first day. They were not great commercials by any stretch, but they were catchy.

I read about this from a few other folks who were also disappointed. Nothing made it feel more like you were at WDW than hearing that tip for the day!!

I don't think anyone minds a change, but that Zip A Dee Doo Dah one is hard to beat. If someone could find out an email address of the person in charge of Resort TV, we could write them. Maybe they'd at least put some of the old loop back with this new one.

 I don't think they realized how much people liked that!

I agree, the new resort TV progamming is horrible and it's not just me but my wife, my kids, and my mother-in-law all hated it when we were there first of November. The first thing when we got to our rooms was turn on that channel....now it's like yuk!!!! and that girl is so annoying!

I agree totally. That girl annoys the crap out of me....

When my family and I were at WDW on Halloween, the first thing I did when I got into the room was to turn on the WDW Tour for my little brother. We were both very disappointed to see that the channel had changed... I really hope there is a way that the guests can express their feelings to the people in charge of that.

Bring back my Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, Tip for Today jingle!

Okay guys... I haven't seen that new video yet myself, but I already don't like the sounds of it. I say we all contact them and express to them how much we enjoyed the last one and if they would at least modify the new one, guests would be much happier. Maybe if they start getting a bunch of polite, well-written letters, someone might take notice.

Here is the address:

I agree. I carried a VCR in my backpack on the plane , just to tape the WDW tour, only to find the "Top 7 Must See" loop. I was VERY disapointed. I was going to tape the tour to have something to hold me over until we go again next year.
And yes, everyone who knows I brought a VCR to the hotel thinks it was a little overboard(even the ones who know about my obsession with WDW). That's OK, I just smile and repeat the Ghost host's speach in the Foyer.....("When hinges creak....."):D:sohappy:

Thanks for the email adress, I sent them a email expressing my disapointment.

That is a good idea, lets all do it.

Maybe they will change it back before our next trip in Jan. It will be so disapointing if it isn't there.

I just sent them my email about the Resort TV. Remember, the email address is : wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

Here is a copy of what I sent to them:

Hello,

I am a huge Disney World fan and belong to a number of online WDW fan websites and message boards. Many people have been reporting that the resort TV WDW Tour has been changed to the top 7 things to do at WDW. All of the people reporting it were very upset about this change.

Now I realize things change, but there was something about the Disney World Tour that EVERYONE loved! Part of it was those "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip for the day!" announcements. The first thing many guests do after checking in, is to head to their room and turn on that channel. You can see for yourself at the message boards at such sites as www.wdwmagic.com. Some people love it so much they brought VCRs with them to tape it! There are online radio stations that play the WDW Tour audio every single day. That is how much guests liked it.

As a guest and a fan, I would like you to reconsider the total replacement of the WDW Tour loop. Perhaps some of it could be incorporated in with the new one? Every guest loved hearing "Have a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, Zip-A-Dee-Day!" before leaving for the parks. Please, bring that back!

That is a good letter (mine was simlar, but only talked about how much I liked it.)

It think it is a great idea for everyone to write. It only takes a min and maybe we can make a change.

Come on everyone, power of the pen here (and no stamps needed, what could be better?)

TOTALLY AGREE!!! Also really miss the PARK HOPPER ticket running around the parks, going down the water slide, dancing the night away downtown!!! We saw someone dressed as the yellow park hopper ticket at MNSSHP and had to got talk to him since we missed the one on TV so much (he probably thought we were nutz).

BTW, the girl in the new countdown loop is SOOOOOO ANNOYING!!! YUCK!

I just sent mine:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I've been hearing nefarious rumors that the "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da Tip for the day" is being taken off Resort TV. Please tell me it's only internet gossip and not based on actual fact.

The first thing I do when I get to my room is turn on that channel so I know I'm really at Disney World. I then spend the rest of the day annoying my son and/or wife by singing it incessantly. It just won't be the same without it.

If you really have discontinued it, please re-consider. Can't you add another channel? How much band-width is involved? I could do without CNN or something.

If you change the "Is everybody neat and pretty? Then on with show!" soap box next, then I just won't know where I am when I check in. You'll have thousands of zombified guests roaming the resort grounds looking for their Disney home.

It could get ugly.

Sincerely,

(Name address and telephone)

P.S. Are bribes accepted or at least considered? I know Disney doesn't pay the best. It could be just between you and me.

Maerj, thanks for the address. Consider mine sent as well.

Haunted Mansion Fan, WOW that's dedication !!!! I considered borrowing my buddies hand held cam corder (until I read the news) and thought that was extreme just to hear something that lasts all of 10 seconds. You probably could've made a fortune on this forum alone by making copies. Did airport security look at you like you were nuts ? Even better what was their reaction when you told them why you were carrying a vcr ? I think you win the prize for dedication. I'll be laughing all day thinking about this thread and trying to visualize someone going thru the airport with a vcr. AND i'll be wondering if anyone is carrying a vcr in their pack Friday morning at the airport !

Good letter everyone. Keep up the work.

Maerj, I have an idea. Lets start a new thread requesting people to write the letters (people might skip over this one.)

Keep up the good work. I am going to get Mr. PhD to write one too.

When I got home today, I had a very nice phone message from a Disney representative apologizing for the change but saying she hoped I'd enjoy the new one.

I think that's classy and the kind of "above-and-beyond" service that makes Disney World so much more than just a theme park.:sohappy:

Same here! Unfortunately, I was out, but someone else here spoke to them and they said that they apologized about the "Top 7 things to do at WDW" loop. That's pretty cool, I really didn't need an apology, they didn't do anything to me! I was just offering feedback on the loop, so hopefully they will know what not to do on future loops!

Future Loops: The WDW Breakfast of Champions!

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to call us, WDW!
