Toontown fight, 3 family members charged

Not that I know of. I think in their eyes the news cycle has passed, and they just want to move forward.

I think it’s a mistake not to address it but I agree with you, that’s what I thought they were doing too. It seems like with all the attention towards it they could have made a better statement. Did they make any statement about the poor CM at WDW? Of again just hoping it gets buried and news moves on?

The only people that care if they’re banned or not is us in the fandom. General public couldn’t care less if this family is banned or not. From Disney’s perspective they want to let the authorities handle it and move on so the news cycle moves onto something else. Which is what I wish this forum would do, move on from it.

I don’t know. It got so much publicity a simple statement saying this behavior won’t be tolerated and people acting inappropriately will be banned is a good reassuring message. It was not a good look. I think it’s the hardcore fans that will wonder about the security response and how banning works. Like it’s different at WDW? But in practice DL cannot really enforce a ban?

The problem was the behavior was tolerated and they don’t want any more attention to it than necessary.

The one custodian did the right thing and tried to intervene in a non-physical way...
But you’re telling me it took 4:20 for a manager to get there?

Come on...they called Anaheim PD and then kinda hedged on getting out there. I’ve seen that fish before.

They definitely don’t want any more clicks on that video than they already have.

Its already moved on in the news cycle which shows really where the general public is on it. All they care about is do they feel safe or not. And Disney has already put out a statement on that:

“In response to Guests’ concerns regarding the altercation at Disneyland––any type of violence is inexcusable and will not be tolerated. Those involved were immediately removed from the premises and turned over to the Anaheim Police Department.”

The fact they were forced to leave and the matter turned over to the authorities is again all the general public really cares about.

FYI, Disney can enforce a ban. All they need to do is to read the offending folks the Trespass Act. How that is done in Anaheim. Security contacts 2 folks, a video security CM and the APD. Then a CM reads a printed card with the proper wording. It is recorded, and after that the APD states they witnessed it, placed an official report on the record, and then the folks are escorted off the property by the group.

In this case, it sounds like that was done backstage, then the family was escorted to their car(s) to leave the property. It sounds like that is when the second incident happened.

It is done all the time. For some offenses, the person(s) are notified they can request a lifting of the notice after a set period, say a year.

But if they are found on property again, APD is called right away to enforce the notice and could arrest the person.

That seems a bit much for a weaponless brawl.

Seven years and four months, to be exact. He's charged with five felonies and nine misdemeanors, summed up as; domestic battery, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of criminal threats, prosecutors said. The misdemeanor charges include multiple counts each of battery, and child abuse and endangerment.

He probably won't get the full seven+ years, but he's definitely headed to prison for a few years. The judge set his bail at $1 Million, due to a "multi-state criminal record" that he already has.

He's scheduled back in court on July 31st. If you'd like to go to the Santa Ana courthouse that day he could use a friend in the audience. :D

Oh, no, jail time is appropriate. It just seems high compared with other sentences IMO.

It’s CA so even if actually sentenced to that he’d do 1/2 if not an idiot again inside but sentencing will depend on his record. Who really thinks he doesn’t have priors? On another note it’s sad to see you think assaulting women should be met with less time. Again if he’s doing this in public? With children? What happens at home? Did you see that poor baby killed because his mother dropped him while fighting? I have no sympathy for putting kids in danger.

UPDATE February 27th, 2020:

Today one of the men involved in this Toontown fight, a Las Vegas resident, was convicted and immediately sentenced to six months in jail for his involvement. In this crazy age we live in, it's nice to see that justice can still be served.

The man convicted and arrested today was the man in the fuschia t-shirt in the video, Avery Desmond Edwin Robinson, and he was quite obviously the most violent and the man who violently attacked and sucker punched one of the women.

Good. No man involved in that fight should have gotten away with it. How classless do you have to be to have a physical fight in Disneyland? Trash.

Three hours ago, ORC:
A 34-year-old Las Vegas man pleaded guilty Thursday, Feb. 27, and was immediately sentenced to six months in jail for his part in a brawl at Disneyland that was captured on video that went viral.

So after six months is he coming back to Disneyland?

No, he has to do this first (from the OCR)

>>Orange County Superior Court Judge Scott Steiner also sentenced Robinson to perform eight hours of community service and participate in a batterers treatment program.<<
