Too Many Thrills?

it's a ride vehicle like in Dinosaur and Indy in California.

Electronic Motion Vehicle (I belive. Don't quote me on that)

The ride vehicles move on a designated track, but also buck and twist as a motion Simulator would.

ooooooh so that's an EMV (slaps self in the head) anyway Pooh's Hunny Hunt is not an EMV but it is some highly advanced technology where there are NO tracks

EMV - Enhanced Motion Vehicle
Spiderman is an advanced EMV vehicle. Pooh is a regular trackless dark ride... It's not an EMV for all I know...

Actually, although it's not usually called one, I think Pooh's Hunny Hunt would be a type of EMV. It is trackless, but it also spins, rocks, and bounces.

Enhanced :hammer: I couldn't figure out the word...

If I'm not mistaken though, Spiderman's vehicle isn't technically an EMV. Even though they are similar concpets, Disney *I think* has a patent on that particular variation of the technology. Universal took a similar concept, but made it much different.

thats what's great about disney is the mix. I think they need to add some newer slower rides along side the thrill rides. I don't ride the thrill rides but my wife will and if my daughter remains a dare devil as she is she will ride them too. as long as there are some slow rides and lots of photo ops i'm a happy camper.

I dont think that The Great Movie ride has tracks either, Im sure thers another one but i just cant figure out what it is

Not exactly. It has a wire embedded into the ground to follow.
Tokyo's Pooh hasn't even got that. It is guided by GPS.

As for too many thrill rides...no such animal.
Disney's family attractions still far outnumber the "thrill" rides.
Hey, some people won't ride coasters....I won't go near Small World or Speedway . To each his own, something for everyone. :)

Huh? Isn't that ride indoors? GPS doesn't work indoors.

I think Pooh works on sensors imbedded into the floor. I saw a Travel Channel show on Disney parades and they have similar sensors in the pavement on Main Street to guide the floats.

OK, to clarify...
Hunny Hunt's system is not exactly GPS (I said that because it is the closest thing I could think of), but a similar system. It uses radio waves, sent to and from a central computer, to determine the location of each ride vehicle. The computer, using this information, orchestrates their movements through the attraction by remote control.

There is no track, and no sensors in the floor. The same system is used by, and was originally developed for, DisneySea's Aquatopia.

I don't have any problem with thrill rides, in fact I like them very much. My problem is with the line length to ride length ratio. It's kind of annoying to wait on line for 1-2 hours for a ride that's over in 2 minutes, or even 1 minute. At Disney, you at least get something for your time. TT is 5-1/2 minutes, and Splash Mountain is a full 11 minutes. Other coasters, mainly at other parks, can be over in all of 40 seconds.

So, I don't mind new thrill rides at Disney, just as long as they are worth the wait. And please don't neglect or destroy the more mild rides in order to build only thrill rides.

Heading for the great escape.
I think that if Disney actually built a ride that was true quality and innovative it wouldn’t matter whether it was a coaster, dark ride or EMV advanced or otherwise.

Some people are not going to ride whatever is built so build for those that do.

Shock Horror... universal is every bit as entertaining as WDW

I thought Aquatopia used lasers?

I've got two qustions:

1. How do these trackless vehicles get power to move?
2. Theoretically, you could make a lot of rides trackless, right (with the obvious exception of Test Track cuz it goes to fast)?
