Can you guys tell me if this is over doing it?
We did the dining plan once and did just one sit down meal every day and I felt like that was pushing it. I guess if you want to eat 2 big meals like that everyday it's fine but even if it was free I don't think I would want to be at that many sit down meals. Aside from feeling like I was eating all the time, the other issue was taking that much time out of everyday at the parks. The attractions are the reason we go so we tend to pick out a 3 or 4 table service meals for our 8 7 or 8 days and that is usually perfect.

What does that mean? I've had counter service meals consisting of roasted chicken and green beans. Certainly more nutritious than whatever I'd eat for breakfast at Crystal Palace.
I've been saying this for years. I can't stand when people complain that if they don't eat table service, all there is are burgers and fries. The variety of food at quick service is very good if you open your eyes and pay attention. That is one of the reasons we don't do more table service, we can still eat well at QS, and have more time to enjoy the attractions and other things at the parks.

The table service comment was not about the quality of food, it was about the atmosphere. I would prefer the reservation and the time that is set aside, which is what I associate with table service.

This looks awesome. All except the leaving Disney part. You're going to have a blast!

Only you can decide whether you have too many.

We have ADRs booked for every night we're at WDW this August AND we have quite a few booked for breakfast.

You have to eat while in WDW, and we'd rather eat "proper" meals rather than counter serve offerings

I'm totally in the camp of wanting table service dinners every night as well - I guess that's how I'd define "proper", not basing it on nutritional value, but rather the opportunity to relax with my meal and enjoy it without the distraction of all the hustle and bustle of people rushing around the park.

That all depends on where you dine. You can definitely sit back and relax at The Wave or Kona but something like Chef Mickey's has at least the same hustle and bustle as a QS.

Oh, definitely agree! That's why after much thought we're passing on Chef Mickey's (I think it's the napkin-twirling that clinched it), but obviously we're prepared for the chaos of CRT, CP, and 1900. Let the madness begin! ;)

Are those three chaotic? I've been to Chef Mickey's several times but never 1900 or CRT and it's been awhile for CP. DD is going to be 15 months on our next trip so we'll be doing CP for sure.

Actually, I've never been to any of them yet - I'm just assuming because characters are involved that it will be at least somewhat chaotic. Better to have that expectation and be surprised then not and thoroughly disappointed, right?

I disagree. We've done Chef Mickey's several times, and while I'll agree that it's a more "lively" atmosphere than some of other table service restaurants, it still has a different feel for us than a quick serve. Not sure that I can quantify what that "special something" is that makes it feel different, but for us it does. Even though it's a buffet, and even though the character interaction is lively, it feels like a sit-down meal as opposed to a quick stop at a quick serve.

I am at the Pop Century Resort and have no car. But I do plan on taking a taxi to Chef Mickey's & O'Hana, then planning on taking the monorail to the parks. I also plan on taking a tax to/from 1900 Park Fare (because I'm not going to a park afterwards, its our rest night).

We budget to take a cab whenever we are going from resort to resort. Usually only 4 or 5 times per trip, but for us it's worth every penny!! Your plan looks great!!! Hope you have an amazing trip!!!

Just as there are different speeds for table service, quick service is what you make of it. I've felt much more rushed by a waiter trying to turn a table than by a quiet spot eating a QS meal. I've spent hours by the water at DAK with Flame Tree.

Unless things have changed dramatically since our last visit 6 years ago, then there was little or no chaotic scenes at either CP or 1900 (we've never eaten at CRP). If was chaotic we wouldn't be returning

Perhaps chaotic is too strong a word, but reading people's reviews saying that either they couldn't leave their table for fear of missing characters or not knowing when they would arrive again gives the impression it can get a bit stressful.

Chaotic pictures up images of kids running around the place chasing each other and screaming.

Yeah, I kinda still picture that, too, but maybe to a lesser degree now. I guess I'll find out for sure when we're there! :cat:

One Little Spark...
I've never seen chaos at any character meal, and I've done all three.

As far as CRT, it's the most organized of ALL of the character meals. They do it as a show with introductions and everything and the princesses all walk the same exact path (counterclockwise around the room).
