Tony's Town Square or Mama Melrose's?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Some of you know this already but some do not. Mama's in late 2013 did a major overhaul in the kitchen and changed the menu etc. Most that ate there before the change did not like it and then went back and loved it. So if you have not been after the end of 2013 then you may want to try it again. We have never had a bad meal there since. :)

Mama's is a must for every trip for us. I absolutely love the place and food is wonderful. Not to mention the Italian theme works well and it's got lower lighting you can view as romantic.

Haven't eaten at Tony's in a long time. Last time I did I think I remember saying it was average. Will definitely have to eat at Tony's on my next trip to see how it is.

Many threads here on MM. I visit MM at least once every visit. I devour the steak every visit (replaced LeCellier with MM as the steak was no longer worth the price you paid and my son doesn't eat anything there). He gets the chicken parm every time and never complains (eats it at home weekly) that it's not like home. I do get a side of pasta instead of Mac n cheese which is my fill of pasta for the week. Calamari is excellent and they still have bread service here as well.

I can't testify from experience, but I am an avid reader of Disney restaurant reviews, and I can say that Mama Melrose's gets far better reviews. That being said, those positive reviews tend to emphasize the more diverse and sophisticated menu at Mama Melrose's (including seafood and more "complex" salads and pasta dishes and flatbreads -- perhaps not so diverse and sophisticated in comparison with restaurants in general, but certainly in comparison to Tony's) over the more "I can make that at home" choices (simple pastas and pizzas, Ceasar salad) at Tony's Town Square.

That being said, if what you want IS a restaurant with a menu of items that are familiar, Tony's offers that, with a lovely atmosphere and convenient location. My sister and her family, who affirmatively sought out restaurants with menus that were kid-friendly and "only had stuff the kids had heard of, that wouldn't be spicy" really enjoyed dinner at Tony's.

We much prefer Mama melorse over Tony's and just ate at MM about 20 days ago or so. Never had a bad meal there while @ Tonys the Chicken Parm has been mediocre (luke warm once and cold another trip) the service was great at both places but we love the decor/menu/food much better at MM..and will be there again in April :)

Eaten at both several times and will never again eat at Tony's. Our last meal was just bad and they sat us out on the porch area, so we were kinda forgotten. My pasta, while having a wonderful garlic aroma (there is no such thing as too much garlic, in my opinion), was bland and had a puddle of olive oil in the bottom of the bowl. I don't mean a little oil, more like a 1/4 cup. Yuck.

We've never had a bad meal at Mama Melrose. The chicken parm is excellent - tender, moist chicken breast with a very tasty marinara. And the Chianti wasn't bad, either. ;)

Rumor is that Mama Melrose may close due to the new Star Wars land renovations. :arghh: If that's true, then you definitely want to eat there.

I've been to both and my vote is Mama's. I don't remember Tony's being bad (although a waiter did spill a drink on my husband, but he got a free T-shirt out of it), but I DO remember Mama's being good!

Your welcome!! No no extra charge if you decide to do that. It just uses your dining plan credits like normal.
I personally have never gotten the package even though we always purchase the dining plan, but know many people that do the package. We just use a fast pass for Fantasmic now. You do get better seats though now with the dining package because they now seat you in the middle sections and FP and stand by are on the sides. :)

We did that last time. My only complaint is that you have to eat at non-busy times - so a really late lunch or early dinner.

Did both this past August, and enjoyed both, but would have to say MM is better. The service has been fantastic each time I've gone (three times) and the food is very good. DisneyXmas hit the nail on the head with the steak. It's very good and always prepared exactly how it was ordered.

I'm trying to come up with some ideas of restaurants to book for our August trip and I was wondering what your thoughts were on these two places? Which one is better? They both had some pretty mixed reviews from what I've read so far. I'm not expecting Italian food to be that great at Disney, but I don't want it to be disgusting either. I just am looking to sprinkle in a bit of variety into our ADRs. So far I think I'd really like the theme of Tony's since Lady and the Tramp is one of my favorite Disney movies. What are your thoughts?
Neither- both were disappointing the last time we visited. Save your money.
