This episode of "the Simpsons" made EPCOT look terrible by making fun of it. One of the buildings looked like Horizons. Anybody see it and wish to comment please do. I'd like to hear what others thought?

yup

I just watched it as well. As far as the Simpsons go I didn't think it was that bad .. they've done far worse when mocking some people and corporations. I think most of it was pretty funny, esp. the part with the electric car .. ha ha

Anyway, I heard a rumor about Mission Space and it's opening date .. just kidding .. he he

those were some great spoofs! like the Eisner spoof... and the Eastern Airlines world domination, and the electric car that if you drove you would seem, well, er-, you know...

and the Audio Animatronics functioned like robots, with sporadic movements!

I didn't like how they said EPCOT or "Efcot" as they called it was so boring. Was that car ride that said you look gay if you ride it making fun of Test Track??

"$14 for a churro?"

The Horizons building was like an auditorium. So i think it was the site for the awards, Kinda odd.I thought the funniest parts were The Great Momenets with Mr.Eisner and the part when Homer climbs over the wall and you hear Mickey saying step away from the wall:lol:

yep! I didn't like how they differentiated between "EFCOT" and "Disney World" like they were two seperate places, or like Disney World was the name of the Magic Kingdom Park and nothing else... But that's only because I'm a Disney freak who knows all the intricacies of names of places, etc. THey still got thir point across, did Groening's animator chums!

I think it was funny!! Look, the show needs to appeal to a wide audience and the jokes need to be something that the general public will understand (not just Disneyphiles).

And I disagree that it made EPCOT look bad. Its a cartoon show that constantly pokes fun at all sorts of things including organized religion, politics, big business, etc. People understand that. Nobody is going to say "Boy, when the Simpsons visited EFCOT it looked really boring, so we're not going to EPCOT!" There were some good jokes buried in it and it provided some good laughs.

I thought it was pretty funny, but I thought they'd have more on Epcot than the teacher awards.

I noticed that the house of tomorrow looked exactly like the one that used to be in tomorrowland!

One thing, am I missing something when Homer strted singing about the pie? Was it spoofing something or was it just a random silly joke?

Hi guys, I haven't posted in awhile, but being a big Simpsons fan, I figured I'd drop in.

You guys need to lighten up! I love Epcot, and I found all the spoofs of it to be hilarious. Space Ship Earth: "This is how people in the 60s thought the world would be like in 1987!" Then they get on the ride, and are bombarded with advertisements from the sponsor, which you must admit, AT&T does, in a way. The only thing I didn't like was that Homer called what was "The Magic Kingdom" Disney World! Everyone knows *cough* that Epcot is part of Disney World!

BTW, when Homer was singing about the pie, it was because he was so happy to be in the Magic Kingdom finally after boring Epcot, that he decided to sing and dance in typical Disney fasion. But then, he walks off and they don't follow him.

I found the episode very funny. Poking fun at Epcot, but in an over-the-top Simpsons way.

I actually think the episode made Disney look good if anything. The Magic Kingdom is the promised land where Homer desperately wants to go. And the "Efcot" parody was so absurd, nobody will take it seriously. Besides, it mostly poked fun of stuff that's not there any more. (Despite "Honey I covered the Audience with Goo" or whatever it was called.)

Frankly, Principal Skinner's assessment of Efcot was dead on - I'm paraphrasing, but "Educational while offering moderate thrills."

I watched it too. I found it odd that they gave the impression that Epcot was separate from Magic Kingdom too. I completely love epcot so I was shocked that they billed it as a boring place. I had fun figuring out which things they were poking fun of. I loved the mickey voice when homer climbed over the wall. :) Too little disney for my taste, I was hoping the entire show would be disney :)
