re: Alladin, I saw it in 2010, I thought the Genie's jokes were Okay, but they were feeling a little corny and dated. I chalked it up to having to stay extremely family friendly. Maybe they just do a poor job of updating though.
It's probably fair to say that they have to be very careful to keep the show G-rated while still trying to throw in a bit of humor. And I'm sure they don't have a staff of writers like a late night talk show who update the show daily.
Dumbo is very impressive. Having him down would seriously impact the fireworks for me. I'm like you, fireworks don't really blow me away. Add some music, Tink(or Dumbo) and now you've got something. Also, Illuminations is my favorite nighttime show as well. In fact, I am getting an itchy trigger finger right now thinking about F&W in November.
I think the Wishes soundtrack is what does it for me in WDW. The DLR music just didn't have the same oomph. I guess I need to find a YouTube video of the real version of this show so I can see what the Dumbo and Tink parts are like.
Napa Rose - All we get is a YUM? I need more details.
LOL, ok. I had the beef short ribs, and my wife had the beef tenderloin (I think). Portions were what you expect from a "high end" restaurant, and the prices were quite steep, but the food was absolutely delicious. We shared a Chocolate Mousse Cake, and then the waiter brought us a couple of truffles in little boxes on a plate with "Congratulations" scrolled on it in chocolate - for our anniversary.
We didn't pack "dress clothes" so I wore jeans and a button-up shirt. By no means "nice" in the real world, but other diners were wearing things from shorts/tees to black ties. So, I didn't feel out of place.
How beautiful is New Orleans Square? Best ambiance in either MK.
New Orleans Square is very quaint, but picturesque. It looks like such a small area at first glance, but all the little streets really add depth. So many nooks and crannies to explore. I was really impressed how they literally hid the entire PotC pavilion behind a tiny residential facade. Clever.
Splash Mountain, I wish you would have gotten a ride on it. If for no other reason then I know you haven't seen a fully functioning Splash in a while. lol.
Ha, no kidding. We hope to be back to WDW in early 2014, but I'm sure Splash will be back to its old - broken - self by then.
FL, the facades in DL are sooooo much better then the tent town at WDW. One of my biggest take aways was how jealous I was of that.
DLR's FL makes WDW's look like an afterthought. I just hope that they continue to replace the medieval facades with something more meaningful and visually appealing.
DLH is very nice, the pool area is gorgeous, and the rooms are, for lack of a better word, magical. But $400 a night, steep.
I'm glad we only stayed there for 2 nights, and at a significant discount. We walked through the three lobbies and the pool area on the day we checked out, and it is quite nice. I probably wouldn't stay there again though. We'll just use points and stay at GC.
Did you ever make it to Trader Sams?
On our last night we stopped in Sam's after we left the parks, but it was packed...and I had no idea how tiny it was. We looked around, and headed back out. Neither of us drink, nor are we into "bar" environments, so I wasn't too bummed that we didn't hang out. I'm glad I saw it though.
Oh, one last thing. Great Trip Report, thoroughly enjoyed it. Though, it mainly served to make me jealous.
Thanks! I've been looking through our 2,000 pictures, and I want to go back
