Tomorrowland Speedway

TS is soooo past due for love it is nauseating...I say that only tongue in cheek due to the exhaust fumes. Nothing Tommorowy about it anymore whatsoever. I would love to see some sort of Tronesque/TT2.0 ish work done to it along with the aforementioned electric car replacements. Utlimately making it an indoor attraction would be the best for that but I doubt very much if we would ever see that happen. NOT a movie overlay but some sort of thing to make the ride stand out on it's own and tie back into Tommorowland. I am not a fan at all of overlays as it really just cheapens the experience for me. It is like reheating pizza in the microwave and calling it "fresh out of the oven" and quite frankly TDO should have deep enough pockets to do a ground-up refurb on the speedway. IMO they should be setting money aside on a yearly basis for every one of the older rides almost like an escrow so that when the time comes they have sufficient funds set aside to go full bore and not do overlays or defurbs.

It's funny, I actually love the noise and exhaust fumes of the Speedway, it brings me back to my childhood. I look forward to hearing that sound as I approach. If they ever switch to electric, I need them to somehow artificially add the noise and smell :D

Actually the DVC properties are a HUGE cash cow, The 5.5 million points at BLT sold for 860 Million of which virtually NONE of the money was invested in the actual hotel as can be seen by the rust stains in the bathrooms and the fixtures falling apart.

Yup...sustainability should be interesting to watch from the cheap seats.

That is what the maintenance fees are for.

DVC is win win for WDC. Money money money.

I don't remember the fumes bothering me or the steering wheel being so sticky feeling when I rode these things at DL. But I went on them a couple of times with the grands because they could not ride alone yet and wow the fumes are strong....
Weren't there model T cars once at DL too ? Did WDW ever have Model T cars ?

In DL the small engines used in the cars probably have to abide to higher emissions restrictions since it is California which has probably the highest standards in the world. So the cars would probably smell a lot less than the ones in Florida.

how could they do that?

They could label their emissions as "Freedom"

Speedway never actually fit in tomorrow land but having said that is was exciting 35 years ago!!!! what they should do is enclose the whole area and make it an indoor ride. That way it is good to go rain or shine. Make it truly a tomorrow land attraction. Ditch the old (40) year old cars and replace them with futuristic space ship shapes electric vehicles and make the ride a dark ride with space theming, ie floating planets, spaceships ,stars etc. add cool laser type guns to the front ie buzz light year so you can shoot at targets as you drive along the track...

If they're going to put it indoors, DEFINITELY change the vehicles so they don't pump out exhaust.
