Does anyone have any pictures of Tomorrowland in the early 70`s before the WEDway (TTA), Starjets (Astro Orbitor) and CoP? Im especially interested in seeing the main buildings with no peoplemover track coming out of them (i`ve got some 1972 aerial footage so can verify this - but its not that clear!

Thanks

CoP was an original attraction and I believe the others were as well. I have been going since 1973 and don't ever remember them not existing.

Are you sure your photo is not from before the park was opened?

tomorrowland 1970s

Hi mrtoad! Im afraid CoP wasn`t an original attraction - after the show moved from Disneyland it opened at WDW in 1975. From the information I have, which is from TWDC, SM, CoP, Wedway and StarJets were all built at the same time (since they are all linked by the WEDWay track, and opened as follows:

Nov 71 CircleVision 360

Flight to the Moon December 1971

If You Had Wings June 1972

Space Mountain January 15 1974

StarJets 28th November 1974

CoP 1975

WEDWAY Peoplemover July 1 1975

The only TL attractions available on opening day were Skyway to Fantasyland and the Grand Prix Raceway.

I am sure the pictures I have were taken post October 1 1971. I`ve put them in my album marni1971 (how can I link directly from here??!) - look at the IYHW ext pic - the WEDWay goes nowhere, and no CoP blocking the view to the Contemporary. And the aerial picture shows how empty the land was, but there does seem to be ground clearence for CoP. No building though.

BTW - mrtoad - I like your 1970s photos in your album!

Can anyone shed anymore light on this era in Tomorrowland?
