So this project started with this thought.

You think of the future and there are robots, right? Unfortunately as space rangers, monster comedians and blue koala things have moved in, our robot friends have slowly been waning in numbers.

I'm planning to do some designs and concept art for a robot run coffee house for Tomorrowland, to finally get our shiny automaton brothers back in the frame.

They look cool!! Practically though....are they actually going to be running the coffee house? Or will cast members be...because automated things and hot coffee....I am not a lawyer but I am pretty sure that would be $$ in the lawyer's eyes just waiting for a robot to spill a mug of hot coffee on some guest :)

Haha I'm pretty sure they'd have some human co-workers to make sure nobody gets scalded

I disagree. It would be amazing to have a robot run diner. Of course cast members would be helping (a lot). It's a good idea and I think you should keep working on it. One quick question, are you going to try to make it in Sketchup or are you going to draw it? I'm fine either way.

Love the idea... maybe the robots could also perform on a small stage near a window (Why a window? IDK :ROFLOL: ) and maybe they could tell jokes like maybe when a CM brings something out, she would say "Thanks, Hun" in a motherly voice, similar to the moms at 50's Prime Time!

Perhaps robot based meet and greets - robots of every shape and size (sorry WALL•E) could somehow be wandering Tomorrowland. It could cover every genre of robot imaginable (don't get me on the Japan style cutesy kind, or perhaps even the mechanical man kind?), and another idea to consider is similarly, how EPCOT Center incorporated the robot meet and greets in FW's early years – it could feel like that. Any opinions?

Yeah, it's trying to marry together the robots as entertainment with a working environment, without making a mess.

There are three characters, and in my head they'll have distinct personalities. The one at the bottom of the drawing will definitely be a typical 50's diner server, very motherly.

There's a chipper, overly eager server girl bot. Finally there's the older robot barista, who has a southern accent and is trying to figure out these new fangled drinks.

I work all week so this weekend I'll have time to do proper, colour versions of the bots and maybe some sketches of the interior.

I like your ideas!!

One idea I had is a robot themed gift shop called Coggs and Sprockets. There would be various robot themed merchandise as well as the ability to build your own robot from parts simular to the droid factory at the studios, although I first had this idea about a year and a half ago.

Just an update, I've been working on a picture of the inside of the coffee house; it's taking forever so it'll probably post it midweek (don't want to rush it)

Beautiful! It does have that retro feel to it, maybe it could use little more Disney, but for what it is, purely beautiful! :sohappy:
