A friend of mine is at the Magic Kingdom right now. When she got off of Space Mountain, there were firemen and fire trucks and all of Tomorrowland was being evacuated. Anyone know what's up?

Some users on Twitter are reporting that there has been a fire on the Astro Orbitor. Of course, with it being Twitter, there is no way of knowing it it is true or not.

It is a fire on astro, Tmrwland was evacuated to get a fire truck in.

Fire is extinguished and no injuries. Tmrwland remains closed, TTA just started testing again.

just drove by MK real quick.. tomorrowland is noticably quiet from the outside, no motion on Astro Orbiter.. I didn't see any smoke or rescue vehicles, but the berm prevents a good view of tomorrowland, so it's likely I just couldn't see anything... but there was no 'motion' on TTA or Astro from my vantage.. didn't see any people either..

Not a rumor, this is really happening, the fire's been put out but Tomorrowland is still closed to guests. They're checking the peoplemover cars but we know nothing on astro orbiter yet.

Well I would assume they would not be testing anything so soon had their been something more serious happened. I'm guessing lightening or a short from all the rain.

no lightning in the area.. just a boatload of rain...

so maybe a short from the rain?

Ya it's been raining in Orlando for almost 36 hours straight, but I haven't heard any thunder and lightning at all. So highly unlikely that it was a lightning fire.

My daughter and I were on the tea cups when the firetruck rolled in through the FLE gate (wall) across from Pooh and then drove by the tea cups down the walkway to the hub. It was very surreal in a way. When we asked we were told that Tomorrowland was closed and they didn't know when it would reopen.
Glad to hear that no one was injured and most of Tomorrowland has reopened.

Wow... Sad thing. Wonder when they'll open SM? I also wonder it the AO fire actually affected the apperance/functionality of the ride. Refurb?

The Tiki Gods strike again!

Except they missed Stitch's Great Escape and got an innocent ride instead. :/

Apparently it was a small fire just after opening; no guests were on the ride, and Tomorrowland was evacuated immediately, as per protocol. Astro will be closed for inspections probably for a few days to a week. My guess is that it was probably a very small fire within the mechanics of the ride.

Disney TA friend of mine says reports of fire involving Astro Orbiter but this is not confirmed...just the fact that there is/was a fire...
