I heard a while ago that Imagineers are toying with the idea of replacing timekeeper with an attraction from Disneyland's past.

Something everyone thought was gone for good.

The Flying Saucers.

If that were true I would probably ______ my pants... But if there are going to be saucers, might as well give them 21st century technology.

Well Timekeeper has aged badly due to the fact that it has been closed longer than it has been open.
What are you talking about?

I was there last weekend and the theater was in great shape, it looks almost brand new.

You did not notice much did you?
For one thing, the broken date is much worse than I though. As soon as you enter the theatre it says 2000. Another problem would be the in theatre effects. When I went last tuesday, none were working at all. 9 Eye did not look like she was flying, she looked like she was riding a hydralic arm.

All that needs to be done though is a nice lengthy rehab but I rather see the theatre gutted even though I love the show.

They seemed to have fixed them soon after. I was there 4 days later and the effects seemed to work fine.
Also, I could be wrong, but I thought the date was left at the year 2000 because the New York skyline still has the twin towers in the attractions - thus, 2000, or early 2001.

If it's still in 2000, then it should be moved to Frontierland since Frontierland is the land of the past and Tomorrowland is the land of the FUTURE>

Think about it.

According to my GF, they can always turn the skyway building into giftshop for the TTA :lookaroun

I believe that the line for Space Mountain should move into this bldg. The extra space inside Space Mountain, could be use to upgrade SM to counter part Disneyland Paris's From the Earth to the Moon Attraction. Its about time the stage was brought down, all the time I went MK, it was empty, just like the Galaxy Stage, Useless space.

In my current portfolio for Urban/theme envirnomental design, I have a new layout of MK, As so I as I get that scan in, Ill show you all my idea for the NEW Tomorrowland.

Here are my ideas for Tomorrowland improvements:

SGE: Fine, put it in... I really miss AE

Time Keeper: NO LGMs OR BUMPER CARS!!!!!!!! Perhaps some sort of Time Traveling simulator ride that will rival BTTF?

SM: No from the earth to the moon! Keep it unique to DLP. At least give a new track and more futuristic themeing like DL's when its rehab comes.

TL stage: Bye bye...

Galaxy Palace Theater: Inclose it and put in a new show.

CoP: Keep it. Its a classic!

Buzz: Rehab it and no more card board cut-outs.

Grand Prix: Rehab it to make it an Autopia like DL's with better themeing, and electric powered cars.

I think that would be a little far away from the loading platform. :lookaroun

Really, now? Where in Frontierland or Adventureland would a Mad Scientist transport guests centuries into the future? :brick:

Disney used to have "2001," "2002," and "2003" for the CURRENT dates on the Timekeeper screen, but I'm assuming because of the WTC, they've decided to shift it back to 2001. This doesn't mean that the attraction isn't about tomorrow or the future; it certainly is.

Also, there's not much room in that Timekeeper building. So I doubt any kind of simulation. Again, Disney should reimagineer this thing and not bring in external characters and keeping it forward looking.

I like most of your ideas, imagineer boy! :)

You have to realize that Space Mountain is huge. The actual ride is 95 feet tall. The ride is bigger than any other rollercoaster at Disneyworld. This will change though when Everest opens but Space Mountain is taller than Everest's big drop.

I would commit suicide if this true classic coaster was replaced.

Sounds like an idea to me...a couple of shirts...some plush toys...and hey a counter for the TTA onride photo.... :lookaroun

 :D

In my opinion (for TL), they need to get rid of the Speedway and Timekeeper and all theaters....replace TK with anything that has seats (perhaps keep the TK concept just add some rotating seats with manual control)....replace Speedway with a massive dark ride relating to the TL theme and with a completely original story (maybe something like Spidy)...and use the space of skyway station and theater to build a great simulator attraction (that like imagineerboy said rivals BTTF)...SpaceMountain...replace track with new one, with loops, launch meteors, comets and what not....and finally...replace the TTA cars with new ones (there have to be new models out there)....re working the route so that it passes through the new dark ride and the new simulator ride...and we're set...

Sounds good? No? Yes? Maybe? Doesn't matter does it...*sigh*

Lets just hope they do something and that they don't wait 'til TL has fallen apart to do it either....

As far as the stage goes, I was just there yesterday and took a picture from in front of the construction wall and then one from the TTA. I would have had a second one from the TTA, but due to bad timing, one of the columns got in the way at the last second and blocked half the view. If I can figure out how to get my pics posted on here, I will, otherwise, I will post links to them when I get them uploaded online.
