Anybody have any idea what's going where the stage was. I read on another site that after they finish demolishng the stage their taking down thee old skyway station. But, I haven't heard any rumors as to what they are going to put there. If anyone has any news, rumors or speculation please chime in.

Sorry if this has already been discussed...I did a search and found nothing.

They are taking down the temporary looking stage in TL. I have heard a rumor about the Skyway station being next, but as this building has very large restrooms on the first floor, I doubt that it would be taken down soon. I had heard that the old stage will be replaced with a small stage.

They should do somethign with that Skyway station. They could tear down the 2nd story of the building and fix it up so the building looks like it was always just a 1 story bathroom building.

While on the topic of tommorowland's future...I also just read a rather old rumor about timekeeper being replaced by a bumper car attraction themed to the little green men from Toy Story...Bumper cars in the magic Kingdom just doesn't seem right to me.

I have heard that too....I hope it is not true. I really like Timekeeper, and every time I have seen it, the show has been busy.

Welcome to WDWMagic! The Skyway Station is past Space Mountain; it is not the TTA. Rather, it was the area to climb up and get on the Skyway buckets overhead to Fantasyland.

......which are no longer in operation, just to make that clear

I really hope these are not your standard bumper cars or even the Bug's Life ones. I don't mind a character attraction, but bumper cars? Unless these are some new fangled OLC inspired bumper cars.

I generally don't like too many attractions where YOU have to do stuff. I want to sit there on a dark ride or roller coaster and be entertained. Buzz Lightyear is fun, but I don't want to have to do work on attractions next to each other. :snore: :snore:

I heard they would be along the same lines as the ones in DisneyQuest. But instead you feel like the little alien toys from Toy Story. Suposedly you are in a giant claw grabbing machine too. Who knows.

As far as the theatre being closed down, thank god! In all my years going to MK I've only once seen someone on that stage. And that was last month when there was a Jr. High orchestera up there playing non-disney music. Kinda kills the whole TL feel. Let's just hope it either opens up the area more or they have something better to go in it's place. Most likely a restaurant.

Tomorrowland Stage usually hosts student tour groups. I've seen one performing on every trip I've been on for years (Magical Music Days).

Right now, as the stage is closed, they perform at Cosmic Ray's. From what I hear, a new stage (facing more towards the Speedway and closer to the CoP) will be the replacement.

As for the bumper car deal, I BETTER not see that. :fork:

Ouch, that doesn't sound good, and i'm usually an optimist.

The MK could use another "NICE" restaurant, one with a bona fide "Scifi" theme would rule!

Friends of ours visited WDW last year and there was a dance group they saw performing at the Tomorrowland theater, and aparently this group required costume changes during their performance. They changed backstage and my friend said they were riding TTA and glanced down to find they could see right into this dressing area and kids were changing. :o

I am glad to see this stage go, as it seems unnecessary with the other larger theater so closeby.

Bumper cars? Sounds too much like the cheesy Dinoland part of DAK. Would also inevitably be a long wait in lines, since it would not be a constantly loading type ride. Besides, anyone who wants to ride bumpercars can go to the Tomorrowland Speedway, since thats how most riders treat that ride anyway :hammer:

As much as I love Buzz Lightyear, I think they could choose another movie to base a ride off of. Granted Atlantis and Treasure Planet weren't quite the same type of success as Toy Story, but they could also be used for theming purposes in the Tomorrowland area. After all, how many people have really seen Song of the South, but still enjoy Splash Mountain?

I didn't see Timekeeper on this visit...it was operating, but we skipped it. If I remember correctly, it was not our favorite from our last visit. I would hate to see the Hall of Presidents, CoP or Country Bears disappear, as these are true Disney classics, but is Timekeeper in that same classification?

No, I don't think so. But it is high up there as far as value, and I'd just hate to see it replaced by another attraction based on a film.

Disney needs to let WDI have a little fun after ten years and create something truly of their own, and not based on the merchandise.

I think Timekeeper is a classic. But I'm weird we all know that. The animitronic (sp termage???) is quite neat. I would hate to see all the AA removed from the parks, it seems that they are headed that way anyways. They are using more and more simulations then actually inventions and new ideas. (Making sense? Probably not!) I would love to see WDI given the thumbs up and no guidelines other then this is the space and the area in which you have to design "X". Can you imagine what they could do without being told it has to be after this movie include these characters must do this that and the other thing. Give them free reign and see what happens. Alot of good things have come from Disney with just a little flick of a flame for guidance.

As much as I absolutely love CoP and Hall of Presidents, my favorite attractions are those that bring the movies to life. Nothing beats my 6 year old's expression seeing Buzz Lightyear after enjoying the movies so much. Or for myself, seeing the storyline in Splash Mountain after after my dad used to tell me stories of Brer Fox, Brer Bear and Brer Rabbit when I was young. The other type rides should be kept in Epcot, MGM etc (ToT, Test Track, MS etc).

I was in MK last weekend and they had a Florida State marching band performing IN FRONT of the wall that is front of the half-demolished theater. I always thought the theater was very out of place, but it was even stranger having a band perform in front of a wall that was in front of an out-of-place theater.
And I agree that if Timekeeper was to leave (and I rode it last weekend for the first time in a while and once again really enjoyed it), that it should be replaced not with bumper cars or on-screen characters, but with a new and novel creation by the imagineers just as Timekeeper was. I'd like to see more novel ideas that I could never have dreamed of myself.

Well Timekeeper has aged badly due to the fact that it has been closed longer than it has been open. But the Criclevision area is quite large. Especially since there are all those hidden projector rooms and such. If the whole theatre was gutted, there would be plenty of room for a D ticket. But not a big ride such as the Haunted Mansion or Dinosaur. I am sure though that once Stitch is open, the imagineers will be hard at work for a replacement of Timekeeper. I just hope it will be better than Bumpercars.

I heard a while ago that Imagineers are toying with the idea of replacing timekeeper with an attraction from Disneyland's past.

Something everyone thought was gone for good.
