New to your community...worked in Frontierland 2000 to 2001....was told the island was too unstable to build something big on it....why does WDW not do something with this incredible piece of real estate?!

Hi....the story is that HS kids have a dare on staying the night on the island after the park closes....aside from that, really, the island always seemed to me as a possible expansion site. I was wondering if anyone had heard anything?

With the crowdedness of the stroller parking lot otherwise known as 'Magic Kingdom Walkways' and the mass of people trying to squeeze between them to go to afternoon rides with huge lines, Tom Saywer Island is an oasis. Simple enjoyable diversions that never get old.

(Used to be even better when they had bird food machines. Ravens would land in my hand and eat out of it).

one of my fellow CM who rove a raft fell into the water one time....he was taken to the clinic and scrubbed down head to toe....he told me the nurse told him that the water is highly toxic! I guess you throw enough turkey leg bones in there and you get a nasty tropical soup!!!!

I would guess because it's an ultra-low-maintenance "attraction" that has opening-day historic value, still entertains guests, and is thematically compatible with Fronteirland and Liberty Square.

The island is not really an island so there is no real reason they could not

I bet it would look like a horror movie if they tried that again considering how aggressive the birds have gotten.

TSI is low cost....and it manages to attract some folks and take "pressure" off other attractions....I never saw it as magical...
I will share witrh you something tha is Magical. When we would shut down Big Thunder for the night, the CM at the control station would look for two CM's to walk the tracks....one moving in the direction of the ride and the other moving the opposite way....you walked and looked for stuff that had fallen out during the day to take to guest services.
i allways wanted to go.
It is SPOOKY and when you "bump" into the person walking the other way it never failed to spook me....
But here is the nugget....I would walk to the top of the mountain and watch the fireworks for a couple of minutes!!!!! Perched on the turn at the top...

Now that was amazing!!!

TSI is a classic, but never opened on opening day, it was opened in 1973. Having said that, it is more like an original opening day attraction, which I do agree with. There are a lot of people that want it leveled. But I feel that it should stay forever. It is a island of solitude surrounded by chaos.

They should build a Duffy Bear themed DVC on it that can only be accessed by personal segway hovercraft that can only be activated when you place your RFID resort cup in the cupholder!

We love Tom Sawyers Island. It's an amazing hint to what kids adore when we let them be kids. It's a nice moment to relax, and it's fantastic to say "run and play" when they have spent all their energy controlling themselves and standing still and calm in lines all day. It's also a nod to the origins of exploration and fun that didn't need a character stamped on it. Leave it alone!

Certainly do not want to see TSI replaced. However, the way they built up the MK, they blocked off potential expansion areas on the north side of the Rivers of America. I would love to see them add a walkway to the area north of BTR and put a new attraction there -- would that be possible? Maybe by adding into the part of the ROA that is right next to BTM and create a walkway around the attraction?
