Tom Sawyer Island Water Wheel

Heard the reports that it was working again and walked by there yesterday around lunchtime. It truly does add so much to the atmosphere. So glad it's working again. Way to go, Disney!

Kinetics! It's all about kinetics. The original Imagineers were huge on having active (kinetic) elements in the parks. Water falls, water wheels, etc. It adds to the overall sensory experience.

The water effects in all of FLE will be very welcomed, by me at least.

Been a good few weeks for water wheels. First the wheel over in Morocco at Epcot, not Harper's Mill on TSI. We could argue all we want about whether they should have broken down in the first place, but at least someone noticed and decided to have them fixed.

Ooh, I didn't know they fixed the one at Morocco too! Nice.

I kind of like the idea of putting little bits of money toward fixing the details like this. Sure a lot of people don't "notice" it in the sense that they don't point to it and go "hey that's not spinning" but y'know on a subconscious level it changes how you feel when you're around it. Let's say they have a budget of $10,000 to make repairs. I think it's better spent fixing up the 2,000 little ambient things that aren't working than the 2 animatronics on Splash (or whatever). Just me though I'm sure. :)

I'm another one who loves to notice the details. Though small in some people's eyes, I'm glad that Disney has not continued to ignore these small details and have started to repair some of these. Given the large project in Fantasyland there is a lot of distraction.

I actually made a comment to my wife about wishing that the water wheel on TSI was working last week when we were down there. Not a huge TSI fan, but I did notice the non-working water wheel. Glad to hear it's back up and working.

We need time for things to happen.
Every regular poster on these boards is someone that loves that "thing" about WDW. This is one of those "things" Even though it's not the Yeti or falling rock effects It should make us all a little happier.

I agree. The same people will that they're not building an eTicket attraction, and then that they're not fixing things. Yes, I'd love both, but in the meantime (until something gets seriously fixed), I'll take anything they can do.

If they can fix things like this, and bring back those SMALL magical touches that sets Disney apart, I'm all for it. If I can't have a new ride, I will take a refurbished theme park in the mean time.....especially Main Street!
