Richard, what year did this start? the earliest i have on this thread on record is 2006. It is fastpass related as of today, but if/when it was around before the fastpass (1999), what was rewarded then?

No clue. The first I heard of the paint brushes was shortly after I joined the forums in 2004.

I need to know this... I guess it is a good marketing strategy to get traffic first thing to the island.

When we went in June 09 my youngest found two. One around 10:00 AM & the other just after lunch. They give you a mulit-purpose certificate as a fasspass to any ride for your group. Don't know if there's a limit on the size of the group. We had five & got to stay together.

I had no idea it was a certificate like that.

I found one last year sometime. I can't remember when. I spotted it, took some pictures, put it back, and waited.

Some kid came by with his mom. He was clearly looking for a paintbrush and having no luck. I went over to his mom and told her where it was. Even after telling him where it was, he still could not find it. I had to go and get it for him. To be fair, it was up in top of the shelf outside the womens bathroom by the dock. Not easy to see or reach for a kid.

Now I want my certificate. To hell with being nice and spreading the magic

In August 2008, we hit the island as soon as it opened. We were looking for the brushes along with a number of other families. You can just tell. My sister asked the raft driver on our way back to the mainland, if they still did this. His response left us thinking today wasn't the day or it had not been done yet.

I have some friends whose son found a paintbrush this past March (09), and theirs was the blue/white rather than the mustard/white color from the 2006 photos posted here.

Also, they said they got to choose whether they wanted a fastpass for the whole family, or snacks for the whole family. (It seems from the pass photo that WTBAD posted that maybe that's the case.) Can anyone confirm whether they are offering a choice of FP or snack as the prize?

We went paint brush hunting in August 09 and they were still doing it. It is true that you only get a fastpass for either big thunder or splash. You have to be the first on the island though. It usually opens at 10am but sometimes they will let you over there early. Some days are really hard, other days are easier.

We had a nice time on the island searching...just wish I would have been the one to find it.

The CM said he was going to "Re-hide" the 2nd one we found...he was not happy with us:lol:

WOO HOO!!!:sohappy: We found 2 this past weekend...DH found one on a barrel back at the fort and I found one on ground coming out of escape tunnel there....explained to a small boy the significance and left it. :animwink: We rec'd 4 fastpasses for BTM and they said they were good all day....we actually used at about fireworks time...got the back seats of train and saw beginning of fireworks whilst riding, which is my favorite combo and finished watching from landing off exit....awesome....:king:

Oh and on first attempt prior day we were second raft and found none...but for first time ever the raft CM mentioned it as we disembarked....
