Tokyo Merchandise frustrations...

Obviously Tokyo has a lot of merchandise, but I found it much different than what is in the other parks. A lot of it seemed character based, and almost nothing said "Tokyo Disneyland" or anything similar. Both times I've been there, I was hoping to get some shirts, pins, magnets, etc that identify that they are from Tokyo, but there is almost nothing. Every other destination has a good amount of park themed items.
Anyone else have these issues? Maybe there is a reason Tokyo doesn't produce items similar to the other destinations?

I've heard this from many people. But I have tons of shirts, hoodies and hats with the Tokyo Disney logo. It's best to go during Halloween, Christmas or any of the parks anniversaries. That's typically when most of these items are released, but I've found some throughout other times of the year.

They do all have characters on them, that's simply what sells well in Japan. But I love that they use rarely used characters many time and it's original artwork and not just clip art that multiple parks use.

Unfortunately this is very much the case. I don't think the Japanese go in for wearing a place you've visited on a shirt, so they don't have lots of options like the American parks do. Character shirts, and generic Disney merch is abundant, but specific park items are lacking.

I'd love a couple of DisneySea T-shirts but they're just not there. They will have stuff to commemorate times, so certain events will have items with the park logo on, but generally it's quite rare for people to want items with a park logo splashed on it, so they don't make much that would appeal to overseas guests.

Also not many people visit the parks as a vacation then return home with gifts, few of the guests come from abroad, so there's less need for magnets, keyrings etc. Being in the suburb of a city, it's more a place for a day trip or a couple of days, rather than a vacation in itself, so there isn't such a need to commemorate the memories you have with the other parks.

Here are just a handful of the maybe two dozen shirts with a "Tokyo Disneyland/Sea" logo I've purchased on visits throughout the years. They do exist, new ones appear every year.

I was disappointed by the selection too. I brought home a few Chandu souvies and some hats/shirts/random crap, but I saw so many snack tins and other random things. I was quite surprised by the merch and was somehow hoping for more/better options. I did however find that Disney Stores that I visited in Japan had a great selection.
