I once heard that the guy who takes off his ears and reveals a bald spot in the Soarin' safety video was a nod to Al Lutz... anyone know if there's any weight to this? Here's Al-

And here's the video (49 seconds in)-

Also, nothing like searching for images of Al Lutz and having this unfortunate photo of @Darkbeer1 pop up-

Japan has a really big problem with their men not getting married and having families.
This is not just a male issue. Japanese women as a whole similarly have record low interest in marriage and dating due to a host of complex reasons.

Btw, moving to Japan isn’t really that hard if you have a college degree. Applying for asylum and becoming a Japanese citizen are not the same thing as living in Japan. Unless you want to not have to work at a low-paying dead-end job (English tutoring). Then it’s pretty hard.

I was at Japan Day at Angel Stadium today, before the game (we lost 8-7).

Anyways, the Japan Consulant had a table there. Just walked by it. But they had a few signs on the table. One was "Live and Work in Japan"....

I actually think Soaring is a bit overblown. The waiting line is all paintings over and over again. Why does everything look early renaissance (?) but then you're just flying around modern day in the ride?

I don't know. Maybe I'm being too critical and I'm protective of the original ride, which had no pretensions or silly historically inaccurate story about a woman inventing the glider with a magic bird.

It's quite a convoluted storyline. I'm not sure if magic is involved or guests are having an out of body experience.

"A grand tour of the museum includes a magical visit from the spirit of Camellia and culminates with guests boarding her latest and greatest achievement — a flying vehicle of her own design called the Dream Flyer. Guests soon experience what Camellia believed, that our imagination can propel us into the future and take us everywhere in the world. And before guests know it, their spirits are sent soaring."

Good luck with that. Japan has extremely strict immigration laws.

In calendar year 2018, Japan approved a total of Forty Two (Not a typo. 42!) applications for asylum, out of 10,500 who applied to escape persecution in their home country. In the average year they approve approximately 9,000 applications for Japanese citizenship from foreigners, who have waited for years and years and paid huge sums of taxes and passed many tests designed to ensure the financial, educational and moral solidity of those who apply, including a college level ability to speak and write Japanese fluently. The government won't be changing those laws and standards anytime soon, as they are committed to very limited immigration for the purposes of "safeguarding security, including public order, protecting welfare mechanisms, cultural stability, and social trust."

The upside is that as an American with a US passport it is very easy to visit Japan for up to 90 days at a time. And when you get there the culture is inherently gracious, polite, classy, sophisticated and very safe. And they never drop their G's.

Visit Japan! You won't regret it!

Citizenship is hard....legal resident however isn't that hard as they are trying to increase foreign workplace employees before its too late.

Sometimes a spade is just a spade. And sometimes a flight simulator is just a flight simulator. The "Dream Flyer" nonsense is unnecessary.

But then again, I'm one of the few who can actually look at Tokyo Disney Resort with a critical eye instead of praising every square inch. ;)

Yes
I can be critical of Tokyo Disney Resort. For example, once when I was in line in Westernland for ice cream I noticed about a quarter sized piece of paint chipped off the building and later that day I saw one (!) piece of trash lying on the ground. It was the WORST condition I had ever seen the Tokyo parks in!!!!

I don’t think I’m over it yet.;)

The Teacups in Tokyo need a refurb. The roof is looking pretty dirty.

Also the Pinocchio ride vehicles make this horrible noise when they stop. Like a refrigerator being dragged across the floor. 😬 I don't remember Paris or California being like that.

This isn’t a convoluted storyline. This is a description of the ride. It’s a verbal illustration.

This isn’t like Batuu, where you actually need to read stories and watch old episodes of time tv show to actually understand what the “story” is.
