Toiletries, Trash, and Towels at DVC resorts...

I know that you don't get daily mousekeeping at DVC resorts. But what is the situation for toiletries, trash, and towels? Do I need to bring my own toiletries (shampoo and soap mainly)? Is there a way we can dump our own trash each day? What about towels? Do we start out with 4 towels and never get clean replacements? We are staying in a studio, so we won't have our own washer/dryer in our unit. Another thought on that...is there a separate facility in the VWL units for laundry, or do we go to the main building for laundry?

We usually stay in a one bedroom so we don't run into the washer issue but I think all the Hotel building units have washer/dryer areas, so I'm sure that would be your option to use one of those. The Mousekeeping I think depends upon what days you are staying, and if I remember right they come on Sunday and Wednesday. As the washer is in our one bedroom unit we usually throw the towels in with our laundry and wash them if the Mousekeeping days are off cycle with our days there (sometimes we only stay 3 days). As for soap and shampoo, they are supplied like the towels when you first check in. We usually take our own toiletries but I would imagine they would be replaced as needed along with fresh linens and towels when Mousekeeping does their scheduled tidying up. There is a trash room in the DVC resorts if you need to get rid of it before mousekeeping comes. You get new towels and replacement toiletries when mousekeeping comes. If you want to wash your towels on days that you don't have mousekeeping, you can go to the laundry room. I *think* that the only facility for laundry is the one over in the main building. I always bring my own toiletries because the stuff in the room doesn't last long at all.

Yes, there is a laundry facility in VWL just ask what floor it is on when you check in. You get either trash and towel service or a full cleaning on the fourth day of your vacation depending on how long you are staying. Here's a quote from the DVC website...

"For stays of seven or less nights, Trash & Towel Service is provided on day four, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, Vacation Points or a combination of both.

With Trash & Towel service, Housekeeping will:

* Empty trash and replace liners in trash bins.
* Provide fresh bathroom linens.
* Replace shampoo, facial soap and bath soap.
* Replenish facial tissues, paper towels and toilet paper.
* Replenish coffee, sugar, cream and sweeteners.
* Replenish dishwashing liquid, dishwashing detergent, sponges and laundry detergent as needed in one-, two- and three-bedroom Vacation Homes.

Full Cleaning Service
For stays of eight or more nights, Full-Cleaning Service is provided on day four and Trash & Towel Service is provided on day eight. After that, the cycle begins again on day 12, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, Vacation Points or a combination of both. With Full-Cleaning service, Housekeeping will provide everything included with the Trash & Towel Service, plus:

* Change the bed linens.
* Vacuum and dust the Vacation Home.
* Clean the bathroom(s).
* Clean the kitchen/kitchenette and wash the dishes.
