Hi- we'll be arriving w/our 2 year old for her 1st trip and I was wondering any experts with toddlers can share experiences w/night time shows (Wishes/Fantasmic/Illuminations/Spectromagic).
I'm hoping she stays patient (or awake) enough to enjoy them.
:snore:
Take your stroller and let her body clock decide whether she's awake for the shows. Record them, if she's asleep she'll still be able to watch it the next day - there's nothing worse than a 2 year old the next morning if they've been kept awake
ooOoo...Wdw with a little one! There is nothing like it! (really, there isn't).
When our kids were small we always made sure to take a mid day break for lunch, a swim if it was hot and a nap (that helps mommy & daddy too :lookaroun ).
I found out we had less meltdowns and we actually all enjoyed ourselves more.
I would tell them that if the napped we could stay up extra late and see the fireworks, show, etc. This always worked. Don't worry if they fall asleep halfway thru because they won't remember that they didn't see the whole thing.
Be sure to not sit too close to the front in Fantasmic! as it scared my then 2 year old. When we went after she turned 3, she remembered being scared and didn't want to go to Fantasmic! again. I have also found that both of my girls (3 and 5 years old) sometimes doze off after it gets dark and then wake up when the fireworks begin. Wishes and Spectromagic are two of their favorite things to do (right after greeting characters). We have to listen to the Wishes soundtrack almost daily.
We still take those breaks too! Big kids in their 40's ( :lookaroun ) and a 17 y/o and an 11/yo still need that break, maybe not to nap, but to relax a little.
We haven't made it to fantasmic with little ones because we never seem to be at MGM in the evening. With little kids MGM is not an all day thing so we always end up park hopping.
She always falls alseep doing the prades, afternoon or night. We tape, them she wacthes them later. I hope see will be awake for some this year. We are planning to try to do fantamsic for the 1st time.
A good place to view the MK fireworks from a distance (if they scare her, DD likes them better from far away) is the beach at Poly.
