To use pull ups or not?

Even though I have been to WDW probably 15 times, I have never gone with children. I will be taking my 6 year old daughter and 3.5 year old son for the first time at the end of July. He is potty trained obviously, but not sure if I should put him in pull ups or not? The last thing I want is to have him go in his pants while in line for a ride, but I am also afraid that if I put him in pull ups he might get the idea that it is OK to go in his pants again and I definitely do not want that to happen since he will be starting preschool in August and do not want him to have any problems. Thanks for any advice.

I would not put him in pull ups...ask him if he has to go potty right before you get in line or do something..and also be prepared to leave the line or show or anywhere if he suddenly has to go.

I think putting a pull up on him may give him the idea that it is ok to go in the pull up.

I am sure that if he is potty trained all will be fine..and just be prepared for accidents..they do happen..it is real life and no big deal.

Just many potty breaks..especially before doing something that may take a while before a potty can be reached.

have a great time!

We took our son when he was about to turn three and only had one accident (when we didn't make sure to wake him up from his stroller nap next to a bathroom, doh!) but would choose the no pull-up option every time. I would not want to send my child mixed signals by putting him in pull-ups. It required a lot of asking him to try to go the bathroom every time we passed one, but totally worth it to help him feel that much more of a big boy!

Thanks for the replies guys . My instincts told me not to use pull ups, but figured I would get some opinions from the folks here that go with kids all the time. :) I will make sure to take plenty of potty breaks and bring a change of clothes just in case.

no prob! I take our changes of clothes in ziplock bags- keeps em dry on wet rides or during storms, and givs me a safe place to put the wet clothes after the change! And if you do have to change your child, if you are close to the baby care center, go there. They don't care that your child isn't a baby anymore and it is a lot easier to change them with elbow room than in a bathroom stall!

I agree, don't do the pull ups. You don't want to confuse him. Just make sure you encourge him to go often and if you do get in a long line, have him try to go before getting in line.

I think you made the right choice deciding not to use pull ups. However, I do find that using pull ups at night in a hotel like that can be a life saver. My kids when they were younger would sometimes have a problem because they would get so exhausted that they just wouldn't wake up when they needed to go, even if they had previously not had trouble with night time wetting before. I have found that wearing pull ups as extra protection at night is so much better than having a child try to sleep in a wet bed.
