To the FastPass Haters...........

Please induct me into this group. I am here at the World now and it is the busiest I have seen it in a while (for Labor Day weekend). While waiting a very long time in Stand-by for Splash Mountain, we were stopped right at the end for almost five minutes so we could let all the FastPassers go through. Now I see why FastPass makes the stand-by line longer. Of course, I will still use it when and where I can, but I am not a fan anymore.

More updates to come.

Sorry, but with all due respect, if you learn how to use the system properly, it's better than not having it. That's not to say the system is not without it's faults, and no doubt, when NexGen comes out, problems will multiply, but the system as it is today, works as it should.

I am just saying I can see how the problem could exist. Believe me, I will still use it. The reason I didn't on this one was because the return time was too close to the stand by time. No reason to get the FastPass and kill time in a gift shop.

Then see other attractions?

Then see other attractions?

Believe me, we would have. But when Thunder, Pirates and HM were the closest attractions and their wait times were comparable, I didn't see the point in doing so. Why waste the FastPass when the return time was less than an hour away?

By the way, does anyone know how they calculate how many FastPasses distributed per ride, per day?

I don't think there are too many FP haters.

I hope you have a better time!

The thing about Fastpass is you HAVE to use it if it's busy, regardless of how you feel about it. It's also key to arrive early and do the most popular attractions within the first hour or so of opening. You should be able to pull off all the mountains, Peter Pan and others along the way. Now, start getting Fastpasses during or after that as you make your way through and see the rest of the park. If it's around noontime and you haven't done all the biggest stuff, haven't begun acquiring Fastpasses and the park is getting crowded, you're probably going to be very screwed later on.

I agree with you Sightseer. We always use it. With all the factors going into this particular time, it didn't make sense to use it though. It didn't ruin our trip, just an observation. A similar thing happened on Space Mountain - FastPassers were allowed to choose the side they wanted to ride instead of their dedicated side. I wasn't too happy about this because they already have their own side.

Either way, it isn't ruining our trip at all. It is our first day. I was just trying to create a general discussion (that has been brought up many times) Smiles!

I forget how they calculate how many are given out. I believe it varies depending on the ride, but not sure. But my sister-in-law, a CM for a popular ride, told me when taking people in CMs are told if fast pass has a line the ration of FP to standby should be 80%-20%.

So .... do not stand in standby line get a FastPpass.
But you wouldn't have to get a Fastpass to avoid the annoyingly long and sluggish standby line if Fastpass wasn't there to create the annoyingly long and sluggish standby line.

The "benefit" of Fastpass is basically 75% illusion. It enables you to spend more time *SHOPPING* and *EATING*, it does ***NOT*** enable you to actually ride more in a day.

Have you (as in, anyone reading this) ever waited through a Fastpass line that was physically long? As in, nearly all the way to the entrance? That line still moved surprisingly fast, didn't it?? Well, here's the thing, if Fastpass didn't exist, the standby line would move even faster than that.
