To stay or not to stay?

Theres nothing like staying in the world. staying at an offsite hotel, kinda kills the magic a little bit.. but prices for hotels are really expensive, I am looking to go the first weekend in December from the 5th -7th, I'm a florida resident, and I'm planning on buying seasonal passes for the trip, but when I went to go look at hotel prices, the cheapest option it gives me is about $671 for 2 nights!... Does anyone know of any secrets or ANYTHING that would help me to get a reasonably priced hotel room for that weekend?... I cannot justify spending almost 700 for a 2 night stay...Mickeys getting more and more expensive every day:(

If you want Disney theming then Mickey's going to charge you for the privilege........... if you just want somewhere to sleep (and so save $$$) there are hundreds all around WDW area. Just remember - its Christmas at Disney and hotel rooms will be booking fast

We always stay on site because you have the magic 24/7. Have stayed off site and it's just not the same for us. Try contacting Kingdom Konsultants, they are a sponsor here (add is on the front page), Pam and her staff have been known to work wonders for people.

Going to WDW at Christmastime is my dream vacation, hopefully I will get there someday.

We are annual pass holders and we come to Disney World every year and always stay offsite. We only need our room to sleep in, it doesnt have to be fancy, just clean. What we pay for 8 nights is about the same as a Disney room for 2 nights. Sure, onsite is wonderful for all the extra magic it offers, but being budget conscious we find this works out perfect for us. :)

Hotels.com

If you still want to try and stay on-site check out hotels.com.. They have good deals sometimes and you can usually at least find rooms at one of the ALL Stars on there. Those are about $115 at the most.. Also if you happen to have an AMEX you can use your points on that site and stay for free :ROFLOL:!! But it is Christmas time, and they may be booked up. That could be why Disney Reservations is only coming up with $350 dollar a night hotels..
Good Luck :)

I'm surprised the Values are all booked that week. But I did just try your dates and got availability only at a Mod or higher. CBR showed availability at $149/night.

I would suggest to keep trying online and by phone, and your bound to get a value opening sooner or later.

Your cost savings between onsite and offsite is really negligible when your looking at a 2 day stay. I generally stay off, but that is for week or longer stays, where my cost savings to value ratio goes up into the thousands.

Try booking a nice moderately priced hotel offsite that's close (Holiday Inn Express Lake Buena Vista comes to mind) just to have a ressie, and keep trying back periodically for the Value availability. You can always cancel the offsite ressie up to the day of.

The seasonal pass is the best thing you can do as a FL resident - if you go more than once a year, at least. I upgraded in April and it's saved me time and money. Hotel rates are also ridiculously low on select weeks. Like Fallen Angel said, Pop is/was going for $54 a night. That's roach motel cheap! If you can purchase or upgrade a seasonal pass online then go for it. That way you can use the passholder discount to book your room, among other things. :D

I always try to stay on-site.

The problem you are describing is one that frequently occurs on short trips. WDW is priced to discourage the short trip and make it exponentially more affordable the longer you stay. With a seasonal pass, aren't you still eligible for hotel discount?

Have you tried the Swan or Dolphin? You can almost always get a rate of $159-$179 per night. They are not Disney themed obviously but they are "on property" and offer the same amenities. Good Luck.

$671 for two nights is a steep price. Are there no All Star rooms available? Have you tried calling Disney or that just an internet price quote? - they can differ. I personally prefer to stay at Disney hotels. There is something special about staying on property and the theming, regardless of the hotel, always ranges from whimsical to elegant. As a Florida resident and frequent traveler WDW, I will warn you to be careful when considering an off-site hotel. Many of the hotels in the Kissimmee area are filthy, moldy dumps. Even large chains sometimes do not maintain the hotels in this area very well. I have seen some real rat's nests rated as OK on hotel search engines, so be careful if you chose to stay at a non-Disney hotel. Best wishes.

The large Pop Warner group starts arriving in mass on Sunday, Dec. 7 (that date sounds familiar), some arriving on the 6th. Most on the 7th.

Try getting a reservation that does not include the 7th. Then something separately for the 7th.

Good luck.
