To state the obvious, yes MK will be slammed 5/23 to 8/7

That is obvious but maybe even more than you veteran visitors might expect. The latest clue is from a cast member friend who says the use of their free admissions for friends and family are blocked from 5/23 to 8/7 with only two days of exceptions when they may use their pass on June 7 and 8. She tells me this seems like a longer summer blockage than she can remember. Simply tells me I don't want to be there. With the new addition at Uni, I don't want to be there. I think I will be looking for even more DCL cruises than already planned. Yes I know I suffer.

Well my bad I guess for not scrolling throuhg the entire thread to find and read all your posts. There is no need to be rude, as you have been in several other posts of yours I've read today :)

Wasn't trying to be rude. Sorry if I came off that way; however, I'm not sure what other posts you're referring to. I haven't even posted that much today, so I don't see how I could have possibly been rude THAT many times lol... and I certainly am not a rude person by nature, so I hate that you appear to be misunderstanding my posts. I didn't expect you to read all of my posts, but at the same time, clearly you are reading my posts with a purpose if you're taking tabs on their tone.

Either way, that's not the point of this thread, and I would hate for it to get off topic over a misunderstanding. Feel free to PM me if you feel like this bears further discussion. Have a great day. :)

I'm thinking of planning a 3 day trip July 4-6. I'm already bracing for the out of control crowds. Anyone have any suggestions in terms of planning what parks to be in which days? Anyone been on 4th of July before? What's it like?

I'm going mid-July. It's always packed, though. I agree, with Diagon Alley opening up, it may spike visitors. I hope it doesn't reach capacity when I'm there... that's only happened to me on Fourth of July and New Years Ever... those were scary times LOL

I was there two years ago. They open the backlots to accommodate the crowds for fireworks and they do the fireworks on two days. They set off the fireworks from three or four spots so wherever you are, you can see them. It's absolute mayhem. We arrived an hour prior to fireworks and we were around the middle of the Emporium on Main Street to watch the Fireworks. If you do go to MK, then I would recommend having it be a relaxing day and do not plan on getting too much accomplished! The other parks are crowded, but not nearly as bad. It's a manageable crowd, though!

So, in case anyone is wondering about this week, I've been here since Sunday. We've been to all of the major parks except for Epcot which is our focus tomorrow. So far I've not had to wait more than 30 minutes for anything just by taking advantage of the phone app and EMH. I've done everything at MK, AK, and HS that was on my list except for the Mine Train, which I plan to do later this week. The weather hasn't been horrible either other than lots of rain on Sunday.

I'm sure as the month goes on things will get busier, but for now it's downright manageable.

Thank you! So you would recommend doing MK on the 4th to see the fireworks? I'm sure we can deal with the crowds. We'll just bring something to entertain us during long waits :p

We've been to WDW over the 4th. It's definitely crowded. We weren't in the MK for the fireworks. We were on a boat in the lagoon and it was amazing to watch. Plus, we go to just go back to the hotel afterward without dealing with the crowds.

Thanks! I wonder if the Poly's beach would be a good spot to catch the fireworks!

Join me, together we can rule the galaxy.
We are going May 22-29th. The 22nd was orginally the last day of school here in my area, but there were 1.5 snow days added on. I'm hoping that will work in our favor a bit because it was pretty widespread.

We went in this time frame two years ago, and it wasn't bad at all. I guess part of it was that we expected madness from the start, and ended up pleasantly surprised. I've also been enough to know how to carefully plan to avoid the worst times to be at certain parks, like avoiding the 24 hour MK thing and then getting to HS by 8:00 AM the next morning while so many are still in bed.

You are lucky, my son is in school until the 11th because of all the snow days.

I'll be there again in July 12-18 and yeah it usually is pretty crowded but it's disney during the summer. It really isn't that bad if you play to the crowds I usually hit everything I want a few times before it gets over crowded. As for the weather ha, it's Florida I live here so the random afternoon storms and humidity are normal I guess for me. Only thing I am not a huge fan if, are those huge tour groups that walk 29 wide and stand in the middle of the sidewalks and sing/chant non stop lol but again, tis the season lol

With the current construction the Poly beach is VERY small and in past years July 4th fireworks viewing has been restricted to resort guests only. I imagine Poly CMs will be even more diligent checking MagicBands this year. I would not try it.

Oh wow, good to know. Thanks for the heads up! Do you have any suggestions on firework viewing areas?

There is an observation deck on the 4th floor of the Contemporary (doors to the outside are just past the gift shops). The music is piped in and anyone can watch from there. It is not a huge area, so I would suggest getting there early.
