To Sea or not to Sea?

I know I'm so clever with the title

I want to go to Sea World. I haven't been in forever. They don't have many rides though, and seem like a 1/2 day park. So I'm wondering if it's worth going there when I could be at Disney that day. Anyone have an opinion on this?

Better make it a full day... You'll love it...

I haven't been there in a long time, either. However, I'd have a hard time justifying missing a day at WDW for a day at Sea World. I'm sure it's a great park, but when I visit the Orlando area, it's for one reason. Plus, I like to stay immersed in Disney magic when I'm down there, which means venturing over to Sea World would break it up.

I'm sure you'll get others saying just the opposite, so in the end, you're going to have to decide for yourself. Maybe someone will say something that pushes you in one direction. :)

I've been there twice and it was an all day park for me both times. And by all day, I mean open to at least 9 PM. Of course, it depends on how interested you are in the various shows. There were 5 or 6 shows we wanted to see and there are set showtimes throughout the day for each. So we had to make sure we knew which time we wanted to see each show. And since some of them are at 6 PM and the Shamu Rocks America show is the finale of the evening, you'll have to spend all day to catch them all. But if you don't give a hoot about the shows, then I guess I could see how you could do the place in half a day.

SeaWorld is an all day park - its educational, relaxing and not as "in your face" as WDW.

In my opinion it is worth a day away from WDW to visit SeaWorld and, as most of the attractions are seated shows, it recharges your batteries

We always start our holiday in Sea World as it is really relaxing and because we are usually so jetlagged from our 8 hour flight!

Kraken is a really cool ride you have to do that!
There are quite a lot of shows at Seaworld so if you did them all it would definately take up a full day. They have an evening Shamu show as well I believe which I think has fireworks and stuff (someone correct me if I'm lying coz we didn't stay for this but that's what I gathered from ads I've seen)

Seaworld is a must do park. It has some of the best shows in Orlando especially Shamu and Clyde and Seamore.

It also has Kraken, the best coaster in Florida.

I agree with you that once I'm in WDW, I won't leave except to, begrudgingly, go back home. So what I did is if I want to visit anything outside the World, I rent a car at the airport, go do whatever, then return the car at WDW (last time National @ Dolphin).

Prior to the recent changes Shamu stadium had a night-time show called "Shamu Rocks America" - an up tempo show (completely different to the day time presentation) with music and lights. That has now gone  and replaced by an evening presentation of "Believe" - the new day show featuring Shamu. There is a firework presentation called "Mystify" which runs until Sept 4th.

It can be an all day or a half day park, it just depends on if you want to do all the shows. I love sea world, and when we go, we stay till around 4/5pm. We have been 4 or 5 times in the last 8yrs so we get through it quicker. If you havent been in a long time I say do it.

As a local I have a FREE annual pass (relative works there) and been there a few times. SeaWorld is nothnig special to me.

Theming/employee/park layout wise, it's way below Universal (which is well below Disney).

Besides, Kracken (roller coaster) & Journey to Atlantis (below average flume ride) everything else is all SHOWS.

I can deal with a show here and there, but I tire of queuing, then filing in, then waiting for a show to start then mass exiting with everyone else.

It's not a 'bad" park by any means. But if I had my choice, it's Disney any day of the week. But since you might want something different than the other parks, it might suit your tastes.

It's easily a 1/2 day park if you don't care about alot of the pointless shows. But tyou could spend a whole day if you wanted to se everything.

Worst case scenario, it makes you appreciate Disney even more :D :D :D
