To Mix Magic or not to Mix Magic-

My friends have been going to the parks a lot recently on weekends to get their fill before their passes expire (they will not be renewing).

A common theme from them has been going to watch the fireworks... And then minutes before the show... With little wind or no previous notice, being told that Mix Magic will be playing.

Long story short... Their conspiracy theory is that Disney is purposefully not trying to run the fireworks and instead run the cheaper Mix Magic. Back in the day, Disney would do their darndest to do the fireworks... Send up multiple balloons and work to try to run the show... Now it almost seems as if they look for any reason no to run them.

Has anyone else noticed this trend of Disney cheaping out to run the cheap show?

The reason the cancellations only happen minutes before is that the company is hoping the wind dies down by that point. I've been to Disneyland many times and when the fireworks are cancelled it is always minutes before.

You have to remember they’re spending money on the fireworks whether they’re cancelled or not. There’ll be a substantial team of technicians etc for the fireworks plus Tinkerbell and her team. They’re all getting paid regardless of if the fireworks go ahead or not.

Yep, no conspiracy here all weather related due to safety.

The thing to remember is while it might not be windy or just a very light wind down on the ground it can be very windy up in the sky where the fireworks get set off. They have a very small area in the sky where they can set them off, and any wind that can cause a rocket to veer off will cause the show to get cancelled. I believe this is a requirement by the city (I could be wrong on that) but its to prevent a random firework veering off course and causing injury or damage.
