Have you heard that Roberto Gomez Bolaños is negotiating to turn his characters into cartoons? Apparently, he was contacted by Hanna-Barbera and DISNEY!!!

Both his shows are a huge success down here, they've been on for more than 15 years! I love them, and I can never get tired, even though I seem to have already watched all of them! So a cartoon would definately be welcome, I think...

Sorry I didn´t reply earlier, I was offline for a bit more than a week. :animwink:

I had not heard about Disney or HB negotiating with Chespirito! Wow...

It really wouldn´t surprise me to see a cartoon based in El Chavo del ocho and El Chapulín Colorado. We already have the toys!

They still show them on tv on certain channels here. Quite frankly, although I grew up with them -there was nothing else- I can´t watch them for too long anymore... specially some scenes (sketches) that are very repetitive (but I guess that´s how Teletubbies are too! lol).

He was a tv revolutionary (sp?), no doubts about it. :)

I just read in the newspaper today that Chespirito is about to give Disney the rights of "El Chapulín Colorado".

Here is the note from the newspaper, sorry, it´s in Spanish... :animwink:

A DISNEY

Oh, man, that's so cool!!!! And to top it off, the rights to Televisa and Disney belong to the same network down here, so there won't be any problems as far as our programming is concerned. :sohappy:

I find it funny.. in Europe, Disney has the rights to Bruce Almighty, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and Spiderman.... among other things..

but in the US, Disney has the rights to Asterix, which in Europe is disney's competition

Thanks, I was too lazy to do it... :D It pretty much says the same, but he is the 'son', not the 'song'! :animwink:

Hey Rodrigo, how does El Chapulín Colorado say there? Originally he says: "No contaban con mi astucia! Síganme los buenos!", and then he starts walking and something happens to him (hits a pole, etc..)

It´s something like "you were not counting with my wit! Follow me the good ones!" :hammer:

Yeah, it's the same thing Maria. I LOVE Chapulín (Chapolim down here). I also like El Chavo (Chaves), but I prefer the episodes with Don Ramon (Seu Madruga) and Kiko. I think that's why I prefer Chapulín over Chavo, most of his episodes have Ramon Valdéz and Carlos Villagrand.

Remember the one in Egypt? That's one of the best!

My spanish isn't as good as it used to be.

Exactly! The Bumblebee Man was based on Chapulín. Roberto Gomez Bolaños wanted to create a Latin American hero that wasn't perfect, that would represent the poor Latin people; a hero that wasn't perfect and that made mistakes, but had a good heart and would try his best to win at the end.

Rodrigo,
Chespirito was given an award, and he was on the news last night. He was asked about the deal with Disney to which he replied it was his son who was in charge of that and that he wasn´t aware of what´s going on right now, but that the offer was for a cartoon movie with his characters - I´m not sure if he was only referring to El Chapulin Colorado though. Just thought you would like to know. :animwink:
