To keep BoG or not... (MNSSHP)

We currently have a BoG ADR at 4:40 on our MNSSHP night. Seeing Jack and Sally is my wifes #1 priority of the evening. I have been reading here and there that people who are getting on line for them at 5:30 aren't finishing with them until close to the first parade time. We are considering cancelling our ADR and doing a late lunch CS there instead so we can get on line for J&S earlier. We will be spending the whole day in MK that day so we should get through most, if not all we want well before the other party guests start showing up at 4.

So the question is, do we keep our ADR and show up when dinner service opens in hopes of getting seated quicker and finished quicker so we can get on line earlier or are we better off cancelling our ADR and doing BoG for a lunch instead and getting on line for J&S very early (we don't mind waiting long periods of time before the party starts, it's waiting for long periods of time durring the party that bothers us)?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I would cancel and go for lunch so you don't miss anything you want to see or do for MNSSHP. Lunch is really good and you can see every room of the 3 and choose whichever one you want to dine in. Also the deserts are the same at Lunch. We actually prefer it for lunch and enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. Dinner you can't pick where you want to sit and only 2 rooms are open not all 3 like at lunch. :)

I would keep your 4 oclock reservation, while guests start coming in at 4 for the party, the events for it do not start til 7 and i would think dinner would be done well before 5:30 (if you wanted to line up then) as 4 is the first seating time available for dinner reservations

If our ADR time was for 4, I wouldn't have an issue. However, it is for 4:40, which makes a big difference. We were thinking of showing up at the restaurant at 4 in hopes of being taken early, but we also may not be taken early and will have to wait until at least our ADR time, if not later, which is where the problem comes in.

We also have a 4:40 on our MNSSHP day at BOG and want to meet Jack and Sally. I told my dd and DH that after dinner I would go get in line for Jack and Sally and they can join me closer to 7.
My 6 year old REALLY wants to meet Sally.

Cancel the BoG only if it is for October 14th. Then PM me to let me know. :angelic:

Honestly, I wouldn't let that ADR go for anything. But then again, I am not much on character M&G's.

Your 6 year old and my 26 year old wife have that in common. If there were three of us and just one of us had to bite the bullet and wait on line for the others, we would do that too. But it is just her and I, so it is difficult to justify both of us losing out on what could be 90 minutes of party time, even with gettng on line at 5:30. That is just where my line of thinking is sitting at the moment which is causeing me to doubt our ADR.

If your party was the 20th and you are only a party of 2 and it came down to it, you would be in business.

It is very frustrating to be considering dropping out BoG ADR. I was quite proud to be able to get it on our 180 day mark for the day and time (at that time) that we wanted. But then Jack and Sally showed up and messed with our plans. It also doesn't help that dinner hasn't been getting the glowing reviews that lunch seems to get at BoG.

I talked to my old lady last night and we still aren't 100% sure which way to go yet. We are like 55-45 in favor of dropping it. I'd love to hear more opinions.

If Jack & Sally are that important, I would skip BOG. If you get in line for them too late, you would miss a chunk of the party. And if you can go to the restaurant for lunch, I don't see it as a huge loss.

It would be hard for me to cancel a dinner ADR for BOG. I loved it, the atmosphere and service were fantastic and the food is pretty good. I'm not sure who Jack and Sally, but I understand not wanting to miss a meet and greet, I'm a fan of them.

We love lunch at BOG, if you can do lunch and can more enjoy the evening getting in line for Sally and Jack early I would say cancel and do lunch. The pork is wonderful and the steak sandwich is wonderful as are the desserts. Then you can take turns waiting for Jack and Sally or have your wife wait while you get a prime spot for the parade which is not to be missed. We had a poor experience at the last parade with a CM moving two adults in to our small children's spots (while they were physically there but she said she couldn't see them????) but if I were you I'd get a good spot and then act the a$$ if someone tries to move in on your territory. Don't miss the fireworks and then you can enjoy the rides and trick or treating during the second parade.

Well a decision has been made.

We have decided to give up our BoG ADR. I left it up to the Old Lady. We went over the menus of both CS and TS and the timing of everything and she decided she would rather do lunch and make her way over to where J&S will be after we check in for the party. Yes... she is slightly obsessed wit Nightmare Before Christmas and doesn't care if we wait for 3 hours before the party starts. It's a long day and just sitting around and relaxing before the party isn't such a bad thing. It's a pretty long day (we have breakfast at Cape May at 8 that morning). We were able to get a BoG FP+ time for around 1:50. Yes I am concearned about us getting hungry later in the evening, but if there is any time to justify purging on snacks all night it's party time.

Thank you all again for your opinions. :D

So I'm curious now, any observations on times to actually meet Jack and Sally? We are going on 10/17 and I'm thinking of hitting their line 815-830 during parade 1.

Wow, hats off to you guys. My wife LOVES Jack and Sally and she didn't even bat an eyelash at the thought of waiting for hours to meet them. It wasn't even in consideration.

From everything I have read, no matter the party date the line for J&S starts at about 5 and it doesn't let up at all through the party. Some earlier reports from the first couple of parties was that people who were getting on line at 6 were just finishing up at the time of the first parade. I haven't read any reports of people not waiting over an hour. We figured that if we had to wait for 2 hours to see them, it will be better to do before the party than missing time of the party.

The weird thing is is that she isn't even much of a M&G person, but once she heard J&S would be there she became possessed. SHE told me that after our FP+ for Space Mountain that we WILL check in for the party, get coffee, head over to where they will be meeting and camp out and wait. I am a big dude and she is a tiny chick and I can't remember ever feeling more threatened.
