To All the Very Many of You Who Clearly Love Disney

I love my Disney vacations, as I posted in another thread to me it is stress free. My in-laws always ask "how can you keep going back to Disney World every year?” I always reply by asking them “how can you rent the same cottage on Cape Cod every year?” I consider myself a Disney fan but not a fanatic, there is a difference, much like the difference between a Star Trekker and a Trekkie. A trekker enjoys watching Star Trek a trekkie enjoys watching Star Trek while wearing a Star Fleet uniform and Vulcan ears. I say to each there own.

I listen to the music in my car sometimes because it sure beats what’s on the radio. I wear a low key Mickey Mouse watch, it’s a citizen with a small gold Mickey in the left hand quarter. I sometimes wear a Disney tie to work, and when people make comments I always ask why are do you wear Red Sox, Patriots, Bruin’s, etc. merchandize. It all boils down to, Disney is just my thing my hobby and there is nothing wrong with it.
I agree with you.

However, my house is Disneyfied. We are fanatics. Mickey is everywhere. In the sink, in the tub, on the birdhouses, on the walls, on the soap dispenser, around the mirror, on the table, on my earings, near the stove, on the mantel, and even on my Star Wars poster.

Don't worry, all of this is tastefully done. But you will see him, along with other Disney characters. throughout the house. The Disney cats are even on a placemat that my cat's foodbowl sits on.

Hahaha. I never really realized how unhardcore we appear to be! I actually think visiting a few times per year has had to opposite effect on us. We can be so much more laid back about it cause "we'll be there again in a few months"
It's better that way. I can't stand planning every second. I just do whatever I feel like doing at the time.

Its simple. While I'm there, I don't think about anything else other than my family. If that makes me a fanatic, then so be it. I've yet to find anything comparable .. which is bad, I suppose ;)

Same here. Except in August, we stay for two weeks, so we just kind of do what we want to when we want to. If we don't hit something, it's "Oh well, we'll be back in a few months." We spend most of the day by the pool and hit the parks in the evening. Extra Magic Hours makes this easy.

Although when we were there in January, my brother and I were in mk just ourselves Superbowl night, so we decided to see how much we could do in 4 1/2 hours. We did 15 rides plus dinner at Cosmic Ray's. It helps that we're both fast walkers and it was cold so we were walking even faster out of a sense of preservation, but it was still a lot. I tell people to go with me jut because I know how to plan in my head and we get a lot done in a short amount of time without feeling like we're all on Disney bootcamp.

I've been home for two weeks and still have the music from the Main Street Electrical Parade going in my head. And that makes me HAPPY! When I've felt stressed or couldn't sleep the past two weeks, I think back over all the fun I had at Disney, all the relaxing and pleasant moments, and I feel the stress melt away. WDW may not be perfect right now, and there may be a lot of "fixes" needed, but I'm already dreaming of my next trip.

The only time I feel bad about Disney is when I have a "locals guilt" experience. To have a "locals guilt" experience you must live close enough to the parks that you can just jump in the car and go at the drop of a hat. This must be followed by an in-park encounter which initiates guilt. Let me give you an example. Scene - Casey's on Main Street:

Me: "That's quite a big family you've got with you!"

Nice Little Old Lady: "It sure is! All my sons and daughters and all my grandchildren. We came all the way from Alaska. We saved up for twenty years to come here for a once in a lifetime vacation. What are you here for young man?"

Me: "Umm...Lunch."

(Cue the wah-wah trombone music.)

Well let's see, I am known as "the Disney encyclopedia" at work and at home.. Live 365 is on my work computer all day with theme park music playing, I have to stay on this site to keep my sanity until my next Disney vacation, I cry at the drop of a hat whenever I am close to going on any of my trips as well as when Im there, my desk is truly DISNEY-FIED, and one more off of the top of my head..Disney World is my home. Tampa is my SECOND home. I am home sick a lot :p
