TN Drivers License

Since Tennessee passed a law saying you don't have to have a Social Security # to get a license, Florida isnt taking it as valid id. Anyone know what I'm suppost to do when we go in May or who I should contact to ask? I'm sure we're going to have to show ID when we check in and when we come back home on the plane. Thanks! :veryconfu

I not sure what you can do about the airport, but unless my memory is bad I don't remember ever showing ID when checking in.(maybe it has just been my experience - I'm not sure if this is the norm)

May I ask who told you that Florida isn't taking it as valid ID...

Louisiana also has the same law about no longer requiring your Soc. Sec. # on your drivers license, and that is because Social Security Numbers are NOT SUPPOSED TO BE USED FOR IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES...although, unfortunately that has become the norm.

My SSN is still on my ID, but I was seriously considering having it removed on the next renewal.

As regards the airport, I had to show my ID both here in New Orleans and at Orlando, to both the skycap, and the ticket agent at the boarding gate.

Photo ID was required to get through the gate at AKL last month.

We stayed at the Coronado in August and went to the AKL for breakfast one morning and all we needed was our parking pass no ID

My Georgia Drivers License number isn't anywhere near my SSN (it never has been) and I have never had a problem anywhere.

I use my ID all the time too. WDW, drinks, purchases, etc. and nobody's ever questioned it. I've even used it at hotels within the past year without a single question or odd look.

Not sure if I am understanding the question correct but FL DL's do NOT have your SS# on them either. I just renewed last year and mine doesn't have my SS# on it.

I think the problem with our Id's here in TN is that you don't have to have a vaild SSN to obtain a liscense, and there was a problem here in Memphis where an examiner was selling ID's to people with false information. I just hope that I don't have a problem when I go in October.

Ok let me clear this up, I think I confused some people. LOL :)
I meant that when you go to get a drivers license in Tennessee, you don't have to have a Social Security card to show them. Because of this Illegal aliens were getting them, so now some states don't take TN licenses as valid id. Sorry for the confusion! :animwink:
