Tips for long car trip

I remember seeing at least one thread on this before.

We are driving to Miami next month to visit my husband's relatives, then to Disney. We will be in the van quite a few hours, and I already have anxiety about the drive. My girls are 2, 7, 8, & 9 (turning 9 & 10 during the trip!). Anyway, we do have a DVD player, but I am thinking that will only work for so long. I would like to make some activity sheets or something for my older daughters.

Anyone ever had a similar experience? Have any ideas? If you can find one of those old threads, could you post the link(s)?

Thanks!!

I always pack secret bags for each kid. I fill them with dollar store "junk" and snacks, most chain dollar stores have disney themed stuff. The great part of the "junk" is it dosnt cost much and I dont mind tossing it after the trip. Then like a week before cut back on tv time and hide the gameboys. So when we do get on the road they have some fun new stuff and dont mind sitting infront of the dvd & gameboys.

ps I always think that if Jon & Kate Plus 8 can do it with 8 kids then I have nothing to worry about

PROZAC

My job here is done.

I can't believe that you would even suggest using drugs to calm your children on a car trip!

We usually just stock up on duct tape and those huge wire ties that you can use for disposable handcuffs. It keeps them quiet and there's none of the dangerous side effects.
