Tips for infants

Hello!

My husband, my parents, and my 4 month old daughter will be going to Disney World in November. We are spending 3 nights at the Beach Club and 1 night at the Contemporary. I've read about the Baby Stations and we are planning to take things pretty easy, but does anyone have any tips for visiting the parks with a baby? Will she be able to ride some of the more low key rides (Fantasyland, etc.) on our laps? I'm also interested in experiences with how babies react to the parades.

Thanks for your help!

We took our tiny one on anything slow moving as long as we could. Because when he got about 18 months and fear set in; it was a while before my husband and I could ride anything together. For example: this Christmas, get that Santa photo because next year; it may not happen!
As far as what to expect: we never expected much. We just leisurely walked the parks, rode what we could, and enjoyed watching our child's reaction to simple things such as the lights at Magic Kingdom, the floats, the characters. We went into it knowing there would be diaper changes, bottles etc. But it was still nice seeing our little one enjoy it for the age that he was.

My DD was 14 months old and she had a blast. She was still ok with the dark ( as long as she didn't think we were putting her to sleep). We rode quite a few rides (more on that in my trip report) She even learned a "parade" wave that she used in the airports on the way home.

The baby care centers are really nice!

First, congrats on your new baby!!! :sohappy:

Definately use the baby stations as much as you need them. They're such a great place for a break especially since you'll be having lots of them with a wee one. Please take it easy and remember to do things around the baby's schedule. A happy kid = happy parents. You may find that your babe may become overly stimulated while at WDW (I still do) so don't be surprised if she becomes mysteriously irritable or has a hard time napping. That's why those baby stations are so great: quiet, clean and great place for winding down.

If your daughter's nap time conflicts with the parade, I wouldn't watch it. But if she can take a "power nap" and take another after the parade, then go for it.

Oh, regarding character meets - If you haven't already, you may want to show your little princess pictures of them so that when the time comes, she won't feel too anxious seeing the life-sized versions. Have a fantastic time!

We have taken our younger child to WDW several times. In fact, I found out I was pregnant WITH her at WDW!!!! She's been at 2 months old, 15 months old, 21 months old, and will be going this weekend ( :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: ) at 27 months old!

She was a breeze at 2 months - did whatever we wanted, as she slept through it all. At 15 months and 21 months, she was pretty much terrified of the characters until Baloo spent SEVERAL minutes with her one day, and she loved him! From that point on, she has been great. She has been talking non-stop about Goofy and Snow White for the past two weeks.

I would say, go with the flow. You'll be surprised how easy it is to bring a baby. It's when they get old enough to want everything that you start having problems!!
