we heard a rumor from someone just returning from WDW and she said that the tips were calculated off of a $150.00 bill even if you spend less than that. Is this true, how can this possibly be true?

Sounds wrong to me. When I was there in April several (or perhaps all?) of the TS restaurants had a suggested tip amount printed on the bottom of the receipt at 15% and 20% (I think). These were always calculated right.

Wouldnt that just make it an fixed service charge?

A charge worked out from average data, perhaps, but more likely a bit of disinformation.

This is not true. They put a suggested price for 18% and 20%, but you can tip what you want. That is, unless you have a party of 6+ or use DDE, which has 18% tip added automatically.

We are going over christmas and I was ust able to book meals through the 26th, and we have four kids and are on the Deluxe Dining and they told me the gratuities would be charged at 18%, except for the Luau and Hoop De Doo where it is included.

Isnt that a party of 6 then? I thought theyd always bumped the 18% for 6 or more.

Not true. She's kidding you, or just repeating a silly rumor she heard. We were there in May 2008, on the DDP. The suggested tip is printed on the receipt...it is figured from the actual total on each receipt...if the total was $50, that's what the tip is figured from.
