Tipping question

My wife and I have used Kid's nite out babysitting service before and I have never tipped the sitter. We're going to be using them again in just over a week and my wife is concerned that I should be tipping. I don't have any problem doing so, I just didn't think it was necessary since we were paying over $100 for the person to watch our child, but if everyone here thinks I should tip, I'll be happy to.

I think this goes along the same line with tipping mousekeeping.
If the sitter did a great job and your kids enjoyed the experience than Yes I would tip.

We tip as well. Even though you are shelling out $100 the actual sitter does not get all of it. The service that employs the sitter takes a pretty good chunk.

Another option you might explore is the Neverland Club at the Poly. The Neverland Club is like a dinner club for kids with a Peter Pan theme. When your child arrives in order to enter the club he/she must be sprinkled with pixie dust and then go through the bedroom window. The overall price was about the same as a sitter and our daughter, who was 4 at the time, had an incredible time.The kids get dinner, play games, do crafts etc. All the things you would expect from Disney. When my wife went to pick up our daughter at 11:45 she did not want to leave.

If you elect to do this it is wise to reserve it in advance as it does tend to fill up.

The only draw back to the Neverland club is you have to pick up your child by midnight and of course you need to take them to the Poly. There is also an age limit for you child, 12 if memory serves correctly.

Unless there has been a change several if not all of the other deluxe resorts have clubs of a similar ilk.

Thanks for the info about the neverland club, but our son just turned 1 so he's still too young. So the next question is what percentage do you tip -- 10%?

I've worked as a sitter before and I'm sure you would be surprised to hear that we are not just rolling in cash:lol:. Any amount will be greatly appreciated, I'm sure. I would stick to what you would tip servers:wave:

They only hire experienced, well qualified babysitters.
How do you get experience babysitting?

I believe most professional babysitting services will do reference and background checks, including a criminal history and possibly fingerprinting:wave:
