Tipping--how to handle?

Hey,
This isn't another thread about how MUCH a person should tip (to beat that horse some more, I think we'd have move up the food chain and beat the dog that the horse has been fed to by now...). Rather, I am wondering about your opinions on HOW to tip. We have a trip coming up in December, and I can't decide if I should take some cash and handle it all with cash, OR if I should just put it on a credit/room card. I've heard of double-charges on cards, etc., and I wonder: what IS the most "fool-proof" method for handling tips (esp. when on the DDP, as we will be)?
Cash would NORMALLY be an easy way to assure that you are not double-billed, etc., BUT they have to take my KTTW card to charge the credits, right? So, couldn't they just charge that tip back to my room (and I wouldn't find out until later)?

Perhaps I was reading more into this than I should. (but I don't really think so!)

The way I was looking at it is if they didn't have free dining, then charging back to the room would be an all-or-nothing affair. You would either pay for you meal with cash(including tips) or you would charge back to the room. The DDP is where the tip double-charging comes into play. People aren't paying cash for their food nor using their room card for their food so either and/or both can be used for tipping. Some unscrupulous servers are scamming the guests. Caveat emptor.

So, it sounds like the real problem is not "Free DDP", but "DDP". I have to say that this would NOT be a problem if they would just give me a "dining credit" card that was not tied to my room. That way, I could pay credits, but nothing could be charged back to my room... oh, well, I guess we'll just have to be diligent about checking room charges.

What I REALLY want is the old DDP with tip included, but I guess it's gone the way of the dino...
