The Disney Store on 42nd Street and Times Square has closed down. THis store was attached to The New Amsterdam Theatre, where Lion King is playing. It was a small store, smaller than most mall stores. There is a sign in the window that directs you to go to the Disney Store on 5th Ave.

I'm surprised they closed this store. The foot traffic going past it is high. It's right in the middle of tourist central.

That was stupid. Most of the Lion King crowd passes through it, buying souvenirs.

I want there after the show last year, and it was the perfect souvenir shop.

Makes no sense.

That store has a strange history. It has moved around a bit on that corner, been opened and closed various times, resized and reshaped itself a few times.

Most of the time, it was because of refurbishment of the surrounding property that Disney owns rather than an attempt to close it down. Don't be surprised if it returns, possibly in a different location - Disney does own various real-estate in Times Square, and it may show up in any of them.

Or... it may not. :veryconfu
