Timekeeper?

Timekeeper is my favorite show at the MK, and the Indy Stunt show is also a favoite of mine. I know Timekeeper is being shut down, then re-opened, then shut down again, but what's the real story here? And everytime I think of Disney Studios Paris, I think "Indy Replacement." Please prove me wrong!

Hi,

A CM at the MK told me that Robin Williams insists that TimeKeeper is shut down during times of low attendance (a total ego thing was implied)...whether this is true or rumor..I don't know...I can't imagine Disney signing a contract that allows so much control over an attraction to a personality providing a voice...I love Robin Williams...but even with the popularity of Aladdin's Genie years ago...I don't think that Disney could ever be so desperate to sign him on to a multi-million dollar attraction...that he could shut down on a whim.

Timekeeper and CoP are seasonal attractions. They operate on high attendance days. They're not going anywhere.

Which is great.... Timekeeper is one of my favorites.

Oh, and the Robin Williams thing.. He can't dictate any type of terms for the attractions being open or closed. He just provided the voice and was paid accordingly

You're right, Timekeeper is a great attraction!

Unfortunately, like all other attractions, Timekeeper will one day be too out-of-date and in need of a replacement. Although there is no closing date set as of now, there is current discussion that there will be a big "going away party" for Timekeeper on its final day of operation. The Timekeeper A100 animatronic will be removed and Robin Williams will be present to fill in for a few select performances of the wonderful attraction. Although provided with the original script, Mr. Williams is to perform live, which could lead to endless adlibbing from the great comedian. Of course, the original soundtrack (recorded on seperate channels) will remain.

Is it just me or are the CastMembers giving this attraction "special" attention regarding guests that video tape it.

I've been "busted" several times trying.

Ever since news came out of the attraction closing, I have been on a mission to get multiple camera angle views of the show. This would then be carefully edited into a really nice complete show video for the fans.

About all I have right now is a rock steady, perfectly focused, perfectly exposed, front row shot of only Timekeeper straight through the whole show. ( I got lucky on one early morning show )

Now I need 9-eye animatronic shots, time machine and lots of movie footage.

Does anyone have any good video of the rest?

I am making this only to remember the show after it's gone...not for any kind of profit or anything like that. ( I swear! )

CT : - )

Oh,...I serously doubt those Robin Williams rumors.

Wow, you and I are on exactly the same wavelength here. I too have established my own collection of video and photos from the attraction (see avatar.) You're right, cm's do hassle guests more about recording in this attraction (and Alien Encounter). My stuff is pretty darn good, considering that I record with a "tv broadcast quality" camera. You'd be amazed at how much power they're able to pack into those Handycam size cameras.

I'm not hassled though, as my camera is usually "hidden." This accomplishes 2 things. 1) cm's don't hassle me and interrupt the shot, and, 2) hiding it usually means placing it into some type of position in which it remains steady for the duration of the show. So that kills two worms with one bird.

What format do you shoot with? If DV, you could firewire copies for fellow fans like me. :-)

PM me and we'll arrange something. I've been wanting to edit together some of the shows in Final Cut Pro, but have been busy enough with other projects.

Okay, I don't think they would get Robin Williams into Timekeeper for the last few showings. First of all, it's not an E-Ticket attraction. Second, paying for Mr. Williams would most likey be around the ammount that would keep it open for a few days, not just a few special showings. Next, keep in mind that he is an actor, a busy one at that, and I don't think he would remember something that he did a few years ago, script or not. And add to that that any room for extra comments would be cut short, because synching up to the screen, and the flow of people (yes, he could have a discussion after the movie, but people waiting in line to see a big movie star would get very mad I'd bet).

That's not to say it'll happen, I'm just seeing it as more effort than it's worth. Athough it would be nice to see that in a TV show, like on ABC during a Disney holiday parade or something. That would make more people want to see the attraction, thus defying the original purpose.

Another thing I think they should seriously consider doing is a new movie, and new voice-overs and so on. It's a great attraction, and it still has "attraction" (haha... that never gets old..)

This I know, I mean, I doubt they'd opt for the real person, live, rather than the recording of his voice. You know, because the recording has got to be cheaper.
