Time to refurb Buzz Lightyear in MK?

I've been going through my daily routine of watching as many on-ride Disney World and Disneyland videos, and just finished watching the Disneyland Buzz Lightyear ride. I've always enjoyed Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin in WDW, even though it's been very limited. After watching the Disneyland version, I have to wonder why the WDW one hasn't been revamped yet. For one major thing, the car-mounted guns give you too limited range of motion, they need to be on a pull-out cord so you can fire all over the place (like you can in the DL version), and for another, I like the little light-up squares around the targets in the DL one as well, so at least then you can know when and if you hit something. It may be just me, but I think the Buzz animatronic in the queue at DL looks and operates better than the WDW one, too. Anyone else feel they ought to update the WDW version?

the mounted guns make you use the car spin... and make it more challenging. What the MK version needs is the better animated targets DL has.

The Buzz AA is essentially the same.

The queue definitely looks/feels like it could use a refurb. Some fresh paint would do wonders. There have always been broken cars on our most recent trips and one of our rides got stuck for about 15 minutes. Was great for racking up the score but definitely was getting old by the time we started moving, plus my trigger finger/arm got super sore :p

Not sure it should be at the top of the list though, since it is in good general working order.

But would it really be that big a refurb? I don't see them having to gut the entire attraction and start over from scratch. If they can put all kinds of money into refurbing the old Snow White ride building into a useless meet-n-greet, then they could certainly do this.

If it's all superficial fixes/refurbs and nothing mechanical, I don't see why it couldn't be done in a week or so.

Buzz animatronic has been behind a curtain for a while now so that really needs to get fixed soon
My experience has been that its status changes constantly, even within the same day. Within a one-week trip earlier this month, we probably saw it working 5-6 times, and behind the curtain 3-4 times (my 3-year-old REALLY likes the Buzz ride).

:pA refurb back to delta dream flight would be welcome IMO.

Seriously am I the only one that thinks Buzz is a terrible ride? Any refurb would be a plus to me.
I came here to post exactly that!

Wings and Dreamflight were terrific rides. Buzz stinks. Infantile, ugly, and no fun at all. Not to mention, Men in Black embarrasses it into an obsolete inferior ride.

And I guess I shall just give up on TL having any sort of coherent them that makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Seventies futurism, nineties proto-steampunk spaceport, and cynical naughties IP-exhibitionism. Blegh.

I actually have been on the DL version, and I don't like it as well as the WDW version for the simple reason that there are not enough targets. However, yes, our Buzz does need a refurb/upgrade. For one, there was a major lightning storm in August that knocked out a lot of the Tomorrowland attractions. I was there that night, and when they reopened it, too many effects were broken. Seriously, it was embarrassing that they reopened it. They did not fix several effects later that week when I went back in January, the effects were still broken. That alone tells me it needs a refurb. From what I've heard about Universal's Men in Black attraction, it also needs an upgrade simply because of the technology. A CM told me that she was told they will be getting a refurb this year, so hopefully that happens, but don't count on it until Disney officially announces something

I kinda think BLSS is the best thing Tomorrowland has going for itself....even if I think a refurb would do it wonders, I'd tackle the rest of tomorrow land FIRST!

If I'm correct, the cars and track for the omnimover of BLSS are the same ones originally used from If You Had Wings, so they are certainly old despite how many refurbs they do, it's only going to look so "new" at this point.

As others have said, I sure do miss If You Had Wings and Dreamflight. I'm sure IYHW would be very dated looking these days, but I don't care--I'd still take it back anyday :)
