Is the "new managemnet" sign still up?

and that MS thing was a joke

The attraction has been called "The Enchanted Tiki Room - Under New Management" since 1998.

I've been to it twice. I regret both, and I'm surprised I gave it another chance!

Gosh... :(

I would suggest to anyone who wants to keep everything the way it is forever, that they film all the attractions that they Love.

I have filmed several attractions over the years...COP, Food Rocks, Enchanted Tiki room (New AND old versions) etc.

Things are going to change..that's all there is to it. What some people call "Classics" other people consider old and boring.

I don't even think Walt Disney would want to keep outdated attractions that people just walk by and don't care about.

I Too Love the old "Classic" attractions...and I have them all on video tape and can watch them whenever I wish.

I also look forward to the "New" Classics and will film them whenever possible so when they become old and boring, and there is nobody in the queue lines, and Disney Updates, changes, or closes them forever, I will have them in my Disney Video library and can watch them and remember The Good old days...and then go back to the park and enjoy the excitement and freshness of the "New Classics"

Well, Scooter, these "old and boring" attractions are apparently not your very favorites. But for thousands of regular park guests who found their first visits magical and memorable, these rides and shows carry some heavy emotional weight. And there's an explanation for it. . . .

The standards of showmanship which the earlier attractions have established are, unfortunately, not resonating in many new park developments. The sit-down, family-oriented, Animatronic-based show has long been a favorite of guests old and young. . . hence, the popular Country Bear Jamboree, Kitchen Kabaret, Carousel of Progress, etc. (and the list goes on). These shows continue to have many admirers (have you ever seen the massive afternoon queues for CBJ?). These shows employ a clever type of humor that is not used in many attractions today. Frankly, the new JII w/ Figment attraction attempts to be funny. . . but it really isn't. Cliches like "Tastes like chicken!" can't match up to the engaging, mind-stimulating, heartwarming humor present in shows such as Tomorrowland's decade-older "Timekeeper."

I can't name a recent park addition which has pulled many heart-strings. Horizons, with its focus on innovative ways not only to improve domestic and working life, but also to bring the family together, touched a place in many minds and hearts that Mission: SPACE has not. Mission: SPACE is emotionally very cold and barren. Sure, the stomach-turning jolts and whizzes are all present and accounted for, but it does not live up to the creative, emotional potential that Walt Disney's original creations have long exemplified. Questions about living in space could be addressed (after all, it's located in Future World!); but these larger issues, unfortunately, have been abandoned in the quest for a nearly "purely thrill" approach.

The Enchanted Tiki Room also features memorable and beloved songs. How many recent attractions featuring original songs can you name? The music, as the Sherman Brothers have expressed, is what guests actually take with them from the parks. And many guests return to the Carousel of Progress or The Enchanted Tiki Room because these songs have become embedded in their hearts, their spirits. Attractions like The Enchanted Tiki Room feature not only delightful songs, but also well-developed characters and a storyline which speaks to guests. Other guests are interested in seeing Walt Disney's original creations. . . these attractions have auras all their own. These attractions, also, are not nearly in the numerical majority when considering the entire Resort. . . they're not overbearing. There are just enough present for guests to receive a taste of the parks' roots and to appreciate an attraction style which is not being carried into the present age.

Until more "New Classics" reflect the family-embraced, magical standards of the "Old Classics," many guests won't be able to let go of their old favorites. After all, those are the only places where many of our favorite things are happening.

I have to agree with what you said Buzzy, that was well written. The thing about the songs is what gets me the most, the way that when both Universe of Energy and Spaceship Earth were changed they lost their songs such as Energy (You make the world go round) and Tomorrow's Child respectively. It makes no sense that they paid for these songs in the first place and don't use them any more. Whenever I think of an attraction such as CoP, Tiki Room, Pirates, etc. the first things that pop into my mind are definitely the songs.

i think what is making people mad isnt that they change the ride, but taht they change it in a way taht it becomes less than a former shell of itself.

for example, had they just changed the tiki bird show by just changing the script and adding a different story instead of just adding iago and zazu, people wouldnt have minded (as much anyway)

That's where you are wrong my friend. I LOVE the old Classics. I believe I said that SOME PEOPLE find them old and boring which accounts for the short lines and walk ons.

I find it kind of sad that The Original Tiki Birds were almost always empty towards it's final shows.
I also find it sad that when I go to see Country Bear Jamboree and find people walking out and the show was less than 1/3 full and a few people were even sleeping.

I personally don't find these shows old and boring, but when attendance is at record lows it's time to do something to change things.

I merely said that we should film all these classic attractions and keep them for when we feel nostalgic.

Nobody Loved Horizons more than myself. I hated to see it go. Having said that I bet Mission Space will be great and will bring new people into the park.

ALot of people hate The Winnie The Pooh ride...I hear alot of people here wishing Mr Toads Wild Ride was back...well I miss Mr Toad too...but the fact is Winnie The Pooh is always busy and Mr Toad was a walk on for the last couple of years of it's existence.

World of Motion is another example...A Disney Classic...I Loved this attraction...but judging by the waiting periods, Test Track has been way more popluar that WOM ever was.

Please don't twist my words around...I like the old Classics just as much as some of you...but we must go forward and try new things. Remember the classics....they were the best...but that which does not grow....dies.
New friends are Silver...Old friends are Gold.
Can't we make new friends( attractions) and embrace them...
and keep the old friends (attractions) in our hearts and minds?

Besides...Disney pretty much does what they want no matter what the general consensus is so I refuse to waste my time pineing over Old rides..I'm too busy trying out the NEW ones.

NOTE: My exception is C.O.P. I'll be crying for YEARS after they shut THAT attraction down.

Like I have said, this is almost always never the case. According to "official" Cast Member tallies, Country Bear Jamboree has been pulling thousands of guests daily. I have spent over 20 days at the "Hall" with survey of attendance - through Cast Members and counters. I don't see why I did...the line outside almost every day should speak for itself!

If the figures were that low, it would most likely be added to the "seasonal" attractions list. This is certainly not the case. However, this is pretty much in arguable.

Besides updating technology, some of the classic attractions, like the Country Bears, should not be tampered with. Many of them (i.e. Epcot's Future World attractions) can, but they shouldn't...until, like Buzzy marvelously put it, Disney can show it can truly put out a "New Classic" (true humor/Animatronics/quality, etc. Filming attractions is not to experience the attraction.

My question to you is, if you don't want to "waste time" with old attractions, how is Buzzy989 wrong; how can you "love" them so much?

Yes, we can make new "friends" - but, just as Buzzy directly put it, most of the new changes do not have the Disney "heart," including several of the attractions you mentioned. Many of which (i.e. Test Track) do not even cater to the "original guests." We cannot passively "love" new attractions, because they are different...many of which do not live up to the pure quality of the originals (the ones we grow up with). Or, as Buzzy said...

There are still original classics (original Tiki Room, It's a Small World, CBJ, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Carousel of Progress) out there that should NOT be hampered with - as they are "WDW signatures" by thousands, designed or created under Walt Disney. These, just SEVEN attractions out of, who knows, 160 possible attractions at all of the resorts? There is no reason. Yes, update technology, but don't mess with certain originals. Or, as Buzzy said...

well, I like the idea of changing the music every once in a while, but Iago has really lost his popularity since the Aladdin series finally ended...and he's just obnoxious now. Zazu I can handle...just ditch the squawker...he ruins the atmosphere of the show.

One of the things that amazed me on my trip to Disneyland last January was how many people were waiting in line to see the Tiki Room. As it had been years since my last trip to California, I couldn't remember what kind of lines they had for any attractions except Indiana Jones (which were very long even in the dead seasons). I can remember at WDW there being no lines and very little attendence before the rehab. It's amazing that Country Bears does so well in WDW while they changed it to Pooh at DL and Tiki Room does so poorly at WDW and is packed at DL.

All the birds sing words and the flowers croon...
There was blood on the saddle...
Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A pirates life for me...
Disney music was part of my growing up and I hope will be part of my, and every, childs growing up in the future!!!
