Tiki Room

When is the braintrust at WDW going to return the Tiki Room to its original form. I just returned from my first trip to DL and had forgotten what a good show it was, much better than Iago and Zero. They love it out there, and guess what Adventureland is packed unlike the Adventureland at WDW.

Get it together people.

I agree. I like the original, BUT, Disney saw the same thing I did. 100 people when the show starts, and by the end, MAYBE 15 were left.

So they needed to do something to keep them there. At least to keep the kids entertained.
So the IAGO idea was born.

Lets see what they do with it next!

The Tiki Room STILL doesn't have that many guests...and I can't bear to see the new show.

The original show:

In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Room: Opening song, cut by 2 minutes at DL
Offenbach: CUT SONG...fountain "dances" as birds serenade
Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing: Bird mobile with female birds comes down...audience sings along
Luau: Flowers and birds sing this classic Hawaiian melody
Hawaiian War Chat: The Tiki Gods take over, then a giant thunderstorm erupts.
Finale (Aloha to You): Recap of what we saw...
Heigh Ho: Our magic trick: we disappear to the march of this revised song.

Disneyland loves it. I only wish OUR version could retain classic, Disney music - instead of rap! (please...in Adventureland?
:hurl: )

What do I think they can do? Add Stitch...rip out Iago and Zazu.

This will (1) increase guests TREMENDOUSLY...(2) add classic Hawaiian traditions back...(3) take out Iago... :D (4) take out Iago... - you know what I mean (maybe...)

But anyway, now that Stitch is due for the Alien Encounter in a month - this may not ever happen. Still, I really hope the Disneyland version stays original for years to come! :D

I totally agree, Stitch seems like a better fit all around for the Tiki Room. The story should retain the original songs and maybe a few additions of some traditional songs from Hawaii ... maybe an Elvis song ... maybe. It could sort of be along the same lines of the new show, Stitch shows up during the show and causes havoc and whatever then they have to teach him about family, Hawaii, etc ... It could work. Increses attendance and doesn't screw up AE, most importantly.

Ok...true Adventureland is packed...but you have to take a couple of things into consideration:

1- Adventureland's paths aren't all that large...so it could seem that there are more people than there truly are.

2-Most people come to this section to go on the Indi ride.

Does that take anything away from the Tiki Room over at Disneyland...no....maybe they should just get rid of the whole idea down at WDW and come up with something completely new...with no Iago this time. Tiki room is up there with the Jungle Cruise...a classical waste of space....just my opinion.

I sadly do not remeber the original Tiki room. If anyone has a video i would love to see it. I was at Disney this past weekend and I didn't mind the new Tiki room that much. I am part of the demographic that Disney is now trying to play too. I must say that I did like the old opening song and have dowloaded it. I did not like Lilo and Stitch at all and didn't even finish watching the movie. I think that an addition of him would be horrible. True, it might bring back the Hawaii feel, but a storyline about family? I just can't see it working.

Iago is bad enough but Stitch? It kills me that they have stitch stuff at the Poly, why not put the Lion king in the tiki room eating the birds or just eating Iago. They need to put it back the way it was and leave a good thing alone. The classic Walt rides should be left alone as a classic they do this with old American landmarks why not rides?

I think the problem isn't the show itself...the original was just as devoid of viewers as the new one is now.

Some attractions, in my opinion, are just not entertaining enough to see more than once.

I think alot of people feel the same way about Food Rocks, Alien Encounter, Country Bear Jamboree, and a few other attractions.

Once you see it...that's it. There's no need to see it ever again.

I think some attractions, like those I mentioned, just need to be updated on a regular basis so people will go back to see them again.

Other attractions, Like Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain RR, and The Haunted Mansion have so much more to look at, even in the queue areas, so people never tire of these attractions.

I know CBJ has a Christmas version...blah blah blah..but it's still the same characters...and it's still a snoozer...

I'm sorry people..but I think Bonnie Apettite was just as boring as Food Rapper...and The birds in the "NEW IMPROVED" Tiki room are just as boring as the old ones.

It's too bad these "Less than exciting" attractions can't just get a face lift once a year so people like us will go to see the changes, and not just walk by them and complain. :(

I think they need to replace those Tiki-tackey, polynesian, pineapple-pickin', wood-for-brains, moron Tiki gods. When that lame polynesian goddess erupts from the salad bowl I think most people lose interest in the show. WDW needs to replace that animatronic with The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien and slime a few audience members in the process. Kids would love it!

Also, this would be the first step in putting some "adventure" back into boring old Adventureland.

You want new rides, Scooter, you got it:

Expedition Everest
Mission Space
Mickey's Philharmagic
Journey into Imagination with Figment
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
One Man's Dream
Who Wants to be a Millionaire - Play it!
Dino-Rama

...the list goes on. Disney is constantly adding and refurbishing attractions.

That's the plan. Keep the animatronic shows for the hundreds of thousands of fans and nostalgic visitors, and update other sections of the park for those who like more change.

Therefore, let's keep AE and CBJ for their fans...while all of these new attractions are built. Sound good? :D

You have got to be kidding! :hammer:

. . .Anyway. . . .

The Tiki Room will never go back to it's original form, as much as we all want it to, it won't. It's just too outdated, and if Disney did do that, they would be admitting their mistakes, and regressing back to the past.

A change, however is feasible. I personally don't see how Stitch fits into the Tiki Room, or much less Adventureland. LILO and Stitch--now we're getting somewhere. Stitch by himself belongs in Tomorrowland (but not in my AE, it's hilarious as it is). Stitch has no ties to Hawaii with Lilo, and I don't see how they can fit Lilo in the Tiki Room.

Right now, I think there are other things to focus on--leave the Tiki Room alone.

Indeed, there are, but personally, I find too many faults in the current version - it's actually pretty insulting!

I can hope for a new change to the Enchanted Tiki Room within the next decade...I *really* hope this is the case. Reverting back to the traditional culture, while certainly enhancing the comedic and entertaining effects without breaking certain "rules" of Disney Attractions, would certainly make this original Tiki fan IMMENSLY proud of Walt Disney World's Imagineers AND executives!

not only that, but its not really "new" management anymore.

Is the "new managemnet" sign still up?

and that MS thing was a joke
