Tiki Room - do they still sing that song?

My kids have grown to really love the "Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki room" song from a Disney Classics CD they listen to. I told them there is a Tiki room at Disney World, but I'm wondering if they still play that original song inside? I searched but didn't see an answer.

Unfortunately, there is only a very brief snippet of the song at the very beginning of the show now. Just enough to get you angry when Iago butts in and ruins it.

The only saving grace as far as I am concerned is that the inside of the Tiki Room still looks relatively the same and many of the original birds are still there, they are just not in the spotlight anymore.

Don't let anyone deter you from seeing this show.

It's still a great show with lot's of great music and wonderful audio-animatronics.

The show has changed to reflect changing times, but if you go in with an open mind, ready for something new, differant, and exciting, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Although some people miss the "Old" show, kids seems to enjoy seeing familiar characters from newer Disney films such as Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from The Lion King.

The show still features Micheal, Pierre, Fritz and Jose' plus some 200 birds, flowers, and tiki statues, all singing up a tropical storm.

There's still lots of silly humour in this show.

Stop in and see it...and make your own judgement about it.

Am I the only one who thinks the old Tiki Room was boring and the new one is much more entertaining, especially for kids? The first time I saw it after it was "under new management" I about died laughing. My 3 year old LOVES this show.

As far as the song, they sing the chorus and then start to sing the first verse and then Iago starts in with his "Stop the music, are you listening to me? I said stop the music!" and then it switches to a "never had a friend like me" tune (with words changed). The rest of the show is Gloria Estefan/latin type music.

Be sure to stick around after the show for the funniest line by Iago. Most people are long gone by the time he says it. Linger for a while looking around.

I was really happy a couple years ago when I took the family to Disneyland and their Tiki room still was the original. I beleive it still is "untouched" by Iago and Co.

WDW should either alternate between the original and new one or make it random similar to the drops on TOT. That way you never know which one you will get until you see the show! Of course, some of the props have been altered from the original.

i used to not care too much for this attraction, but after a 6 month stint working in the tiki room, it grows on you. but it took 50 hours a week, for 6 months. haha.
the song starts at the beginning, and then a 'hip hop' version is sung at the end. (is sung a word?)

i agree that the funniest part of the show is the LAST LINE, that no one hardly EVER hears. stick around until the doors close. CM's don't mind, we encourage it! it gives us someone to talk to, and spout off random facts of the tiki room!

i also realized there are a lot of 'fowl puns' in the show. i always thought iago said the word Celebrity, but if you listen close, or read the hearing impaired script, like i did... (horrible at figuring out lyrics), he is actually saying, Celeb'birdie'. anyway, take your kids, unless they are scared easily. the tiki goddess 'uhoa' makes a thunderous appearance that brings people between the ages of 1 and 7, and 70-99 to tears, and usually soiling themselves.

The whole thing starts out very similar to the way the old Tiki started... but then it changes dramatically!

Many people don't like it... but I actually enjoy it. The Tiki Goddess animatronic is really a wonder to behold. As long as you can stomach a little bit of Gilbert Godfreid, you should enjoy it. It's quite humerous!

The Tiki Room at Disneyland has been down for a MAJOR rehab. The building was infested with termites, the birds needed a major upgrade the thatched roof was just ashambles. But everything is int he process of being fixed and the Tiki Room will be open again March 12th. And it will still be the ORIGINAL show. No invasion by Iago, Zazu & the Miami Sound Machine.

LONG LIVE THE OFFENBACH NUMBER!!!

I personally don't care for the new show but we did it on our last trip as we knew our daughter would like it though.

As a kid I loved the original and even had it on LP with the Jungle Cruise on side B.

your not the only one that thought the old show was boring. With the new show it's more upbeat and fresh, and they don't see half as many walkouts as they use to. The old show was dated and needed to be updated.

YES!!! I made my parents and GF stay to hear it, even though everyone else was long gone. Very funny.

None of us had ever been to the Tiki room even though we've been there several times. I'm so glad we saw it on our trip last month. I thought it was clever, witty and fun. I loved all the tiki statues singing. You don't expect it at all! Great show!

Thanks for the update aimster. I was worried when I started to read your post about the rehab. I could just see them making a few "modifications" :hurl: while getting rid of the bugs.

Hmm, ok. I like Gloria Estefan, but I also like the original Disney music, especially for little kids. Everything seems to need an edge these days.

Can anyone tell me why when I search for the Tiki Room lyrics on google I get a bunch of hits on lyrics by Hillary Duff? Did she remake that song?

I found these lyrics from the version I have:

Jose: Ole, ole it's show time.

In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.
All the birds sing words and the flowers croon,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Welcome to our tropical hideaway, you lucky people you.
If we weren't in the show starting right away we'd be in the audience too. Altogether

Fritz: I sing so beautiful, I should sing solo.
Jose: So low we can't hear you.
Pierre: My voice might not be so marvelous, but my profile is out of this world.
Michael: Yea ho, but the trouble is it's not far enough out of this world.

The boy's in the back are called macaws. Because of their claws? No because they macaws,
And our fine feathered friend is a jolly toucan, And two can sound better than one toucan can.

The bird of paradise is an elegant bird. It likes to be seen, and it loves to be heard.
Most little birdies will fly away, but the Tiki Room birds are here everyday.

Our magnificent show is yet to come, so strum the guitar, and beat the drum.
We'll been a hit and know you adore us, so come and join in another chorus.

What's really sad is that I can remember the Tiki Bird Room from back when I was a WEE young lass (like 5-6) but not for it's zainey antics or anything like that. All I remember from that original show was that it was always when I'd snooze in those hideous blue strollers that you could rend from the front gate.

I went back in '00 and saw it but the sad part is that I *think* it was still the original that I saw and not the updated version. Can anyone tell me when the original was cut and rehabbed? I really believe I saw the original.

Last March I saw the new show and loved it. At least they didn't change the exterior, the interior, or the cuteness of the original animatronics and show. I mean, they butcher every other attraction from it's original state, but this one was handled quite nicely. Just my $0.02...
